I see, I've never used it, prefer the Fediverse where a computer fool as basic as me can still self host. But appreciate from your point of view there's probably a lot that can be learned from that.
Sam Altman just has a room full of old Pentium 2 cpus he bought cheap on eBay and sits there 24/7, speeding off his tits, typing all the replies on chat gpt himself.
$7 trillion seems quite pricy for that if you ask me.
I was with an Aussie the other day and he was talking about this, he didn’t seem to mind. I did ask how, then briefly mentioned that it could be good as it would force people into using the actual internet again.
I thought Americans were into working 365 days a year?!
No wonder they’re getting their arses kicked by China, Russia, North Korea, Iran, Poland, Estonia and Antarctica.
I was recently interviewed about the late, great drummer Keith Le Blanc for radio in the UK. For those who don't know, Keith Le Blanc was a drummer, programmer and producer who started out as the house drummer at Sugarhill Records in New York in the early 1980s along with Skip McDonald, Doug Wimbish and Edward Fletcher (Duke Bootee). You will have heard his work on Grandmaster Flash's The Message as well as a whole lot of other tracks from the label, including Funky 4 Plus 1, Kool Moe Dee and more.
From there he moved to Tommy Boy and released the seminal Malcolm X - No Sell Out. He was a serious pioneer in the world of sampling, making it a key part of his style, incorporating tech into his analogue drum set up. He went to become the most in demand programmer of the DMX drum machine, building his own triggers to he could control them via his analogue kit. His list of credits is top level, including Annie Lennox, Seal, Nine Inch Nails, REM and Tina Turner to name a few. You get the idea...
I had the good fortune of being his tech for Tackhead's last tour in the US and UK and am honoured to have counted him as a friend. Learning about the business first hand from such a pro was amazing. He was a very cool cat indeed. He will be very much missed.
You can hear the interview, pus some of Keith's music (and some of mine) on Colin Spencer's Colin's Cuts show.

How often do these run? I'm way over the other side of the country but have family in Bristol, with a bit of planning I could do a trip next time around.
So if I understand this right, the old senile guy is still in charge of the USA until January right?
By then folks will be getting ready for 2028 already.
What takes them so long? Over here the old leader gets kicked out the same day.
It’s cool though because the change doesn’t mean anything, other than a local decorator gets a cool gig doing up the place to the new leader’s preference.
It’s the start of a new week and at 4pm Pyongyang time (8am utc) I’ll be streaming live from my shed, playing a bunch of music from the thousands of records I’ve collected over the years. From jazz to reggae to old rave tunes to hip hop to prog rock to funk, it’s a wild ride. As ever, I’ve no idea what I’ll play, it’ll be wherever the vibe leads us but who wants safe and predictable right?
There’s a magical light show and you may even get to see George and Frida on the exclusive CatFlapCam ™.

I’d be in serious doo doo if I hadn’t sold at the exact bottom. I had to move and that included a whole music studio.
But I build a lovely shed space, even if it’s now the most ridiculously over priced shed now, it brings me joy and happiness. Plus I have a roof over my head.
Do what you need to do, when you need to do it and ignore the bloviating ‘influencers’.
So anyway, there was this podcast guest and they didn't have their own podcast!?
Like wft!? Who the hell goes on a podcast and doesn't have their own podcast. Fucking amateur.
