internet was open-source
and was taken by big corps
so it was hard for individuals to get open-source projects funded
the more in open-source tech people were contributing the less money they got
before 1800 people had to live the lives of their parents and grandparents and that started to change bc the invention of AMERICA
the American Constitution (1787)
the word right is only in the constitution once
is in the ART 1, section 8. clause 8
what it does is gives authors and inventors the exclusive right to their respective writings and discoveries
i love Abraham Lincoln's description of this
he said: this clause, this word, “right” provided the fuel of interest (self-interest) to the fire of genius, INVENTION.
securing this natural right of ownership
provided incentives and created a new way to distribute resources
no longer were resources distributed by violence
now they are distributed by ingenuity and hard work
SATOSHI blows my mind
he didn’t protect his invention with traditional patent rights
he released the Bitcoin software as open-source
allowing anyone to use, modify and distribute it freely
OWN IT
bitcoin belongs to its community
bitcoin belongs to everyone
bitcoin belongs to the people
one of my heroes, Ludwig von Mises
in his book from 1922 titled ‘SOCIALISM’
he uncovered the root of the argument
he started the book by talking about HAVING
i will use the word OWNERSHIP
he says
there are only 2 ways to own things
1- be the 1st one to get and claim it (the american indian)
2- or use violence to take it from somebody who already has it. and that’s life
even though the constitution is more than 200 years old
many are still talking about indigenous rights
many are still talking about racial injustice
and the earnings gap between men and women
the fact is that slavery existed when the constitution was written
the question is: does that make a difference today?
if the distribution of wealth was wrong 250/500 years ago: does that make things unfair today?
do we really need to pierce that law and change things?
TECH FOUNDERS
Elon, Jack.…
Peter Thiel
just to name a few ( the list is infinite )
that’s wealth creation, in a nation and in the world
that’s what makes a country great, its people
( no matter where they were born )
think in a couple of people:
Sam Walton: he went from milking his family’s families cows to serve in WW2 to owning a five and dime to becoming a billionaire and changing the retail industry
Oprah Winfrey: changed daytime TV and became a billionaire
Jeff Bezos: started selling books and changed the retail industry all over again and he is one of the richest people on the face of the earth
and whatever the distribution of wealth was when the US constitution was written or when these entrepreneurs were born is not the distribution of wealth today
the distribution of wealth is always changing
and what changes it?
