The “connected car” is the worst for me because I don’t see any way around it. I think you can still buy a dumb tv. You can lessen the amount that Google knows about you. But we bought a new car last year and I don’t think we can turn off the connectedness. nostr:note13uawrwatj0p3syr9twrnz3dnw8pnap7mnm3kgcv7pperfqqkfc5qk4aq90
I will say that over the last 18 months several of the non-bitcoin focused people I found only stuck around for a couple months and then left.
Maybe I would’ve too, I guess, but I really want this thing to work. And hate Twitter so I’m not posting my thoughts there. But it can seem like you’re talking into the void. nostr:note1dn36gz6nvcdd7s26evcexgffdynzutuktu3n4evphjqcusks338shfdd4r
🙋♂️ I’m certainly pro bitcoin but rarely post about it. I agree with what someone said about hashtags - and then add them to your feed (is using @damus )
Ugh. That’s frustrating. We tried pumpkins two years and got awful fungus both times and gave up. We’re not big into gardening, we just tried to grow some for the kids. But we struggled mightily.
They do not get it and it think it’ll be a long time before many will. I can’t figure out how anyone spends more than about five minutes on Twitter in that algorithm but the rage must be addicting enough to keep them coming back.
That’s a clever trick - I like it!
On long, hard, runs I used to pick a telephone pole or mailbox and just focus on making it to that thing. Then pick another one. And so on. Instead of thinking about the whole amount I had left. But probably a lot of people use that one.
What part of Michigan does it go through?
The longest race I’ve done is a half-marathon. I’ve trimmed my running way back as I try to finally cure plantar fasciitis in my left foot, but when I was doing the most miles there seemed to be something about ten miles where my body was just not happy with me. My feet and knees especially seemed to start pitching a fit. I’m sure I could’ve taken some steps (no pun intended) to strengthen them and push beyond that but I guess I just didn’t have the motivation. Lol
Lots of good advice in this thread. I’ve been around here for over a year and a half and it pretty much comes down to what people are saying. Follow more people and do some digging. The #grownostr hashtag is great for finding people who aren’t exclusively talking about bitcoin or nostr.
But it seems like a real issue for getting this thing off the ground. Especially for people not really into bitcoin.
Yeah, it has really come a long way. I don’t know which client you’re using, but @damus was barely functional (to a non technical person like me) at the time and @primal didn’t exist at all.

I wouldn’t go so far as to call it communism, but I honestly can’t believe a politician is seriously proposed price controls and that there must be a non-trivial number of constituents who think it’s a good idea.
Morning, everyone. The school year is fast approaching and I’ve been working on a series of posts about Bad Therapy, by Abigail Shier, and its implications for schools. I’m hoping to get those posts knocked out this morning so the next several days I can prepare for the school year.
I plan to post everything on nostr first using Habla.news.
Have a great day everyone! https://image.nostr.build/7f0031c4f741522c2f4e5ca6f42e3b99caf0dea35db39abf93ba4239f6784329.jpg
It’s notoriously (relatively) bad at math. Which from my perspective as a math teacher is really interesting. At one point, like a year ago, Stephen wolfram was talking about integrating wolfram alpha so it would recognize a math problem, send it to wolfram alpha, then return the result. In the screenshots I saw it even link to the wolfram alpha computations, effectively showing its work. nostr:note1hlsm29lrea8hfqh38aucten3x04lujv4yejuqcl95tcg56p0tv8sxzfdkd

It was an about a year ago that I deleted the app - but did not delete my account. I realized what I said above when I redownloaded it the day of the Trump assassination attempt. I had it for 48 hours and couldn’t believe how much worse it was.
This really is amazing. I hope it’s as private as they claim. And I LOVE having the option to switch between models.
Claude is apparently so “safe” it will answer almost none of my queries. Which maybe says more about me than it does about Claude…

Do you think this a problem with lightning in general that just simply doesn’t have the right incentives or structure to be overcome?
It seems like more people are finding lightning to be a flawed scaling solution.
But then again it seems to work well on Nostr. 🤷♂️ I’m honestly wondering because I don’t have the technical knowledge to know.

I am writing a blog post and was conflicted about whether to use a semi-colon or a dash. Boldly went with a semi-colon. Checked with chatGPT and according to the AI overlords, I nailed it.
I recommend all parents, teachers, therapists, and any other people concerned about children give this book a read.
Here’s the description: From the author of Irreversible Damage, an investigation into a mental health industry that is harming, not healing, American children
In virtually every way that can be measured, Gen Z’s mental health is worse than that of previous generations. Youth suicide rates are climbing, antidepressant prescriptions for children are common, and the proliferation of mental health diagnoses has not helped the staggering number of kids who are lonely, lost, sad and fearful of growing up. What’s gone wrong with America’s youth?
In Bad Therapy, bestselling investigative journalist Abigail Shrier argues that the problem isn’t the kids—it’s the mental health experts. Drawing on hundreds of interviews with child psychologists, parents, teachers, and young people, Shrier explores the ways the mental health industry has transformed the way we teach, treat, discipline, and even talk to our kids. She reveals that most of the therapeutic approaches have serious side effects and few proven benefits. Among her unsettling findings:
Talk therapy can induce rumination, trapping children in cycles of anxiety and depression
Social Emotional Learning handicaps our most vulnerable children, in both public schools and private
“Gentle parenting” can encourage emotional turbulence – even violence – in children as they lash out, desperate for an adult in charge
Mental health care can be lifesaving when properly applied to children with severe needs, but for the typical child, the cure can be worse than the disease. Bad Therapy is a must-read for anyone questioning why our efforts to bolster America’s kids have backfired—and what it will take for parents to lead a turnaround. https://image.nostr.build/fc9ae6a3fc84f98f93ada1ceae923e42cc52d8377251d57708d4452695d628e1.jpg
I gave up social media since about June 5 but I downloaded Twitter on Saturday when I heard about the assassination attempt. I just deleted it again. It’s such a bloody cesspool I can’t believe anyone voluntarily spends time there and I feel bad for people who have to use it for their profession.
Fb and instagram have lots of problems but there’s something about the structure of Twitter and the algorithm that just creates a black hole of misery. (Changing the color scheme from blue to black makes a lot of sense.)
So dead inside, then? 😉
I think the born to run album is a masterpiece. So is the river. And honestly I love tunnel of love. The rising is pretty good too.
I hate that he’s a pawn for the Democratic Party but otherwise 🤘
