that someone doesn't always have to be you. many have produced amazing work and left it in the public domain for everyone to enjoy for free without any limitations. they are the ones that paid the cost, and to many of them, the cost is worth it.
there are 100% free (as in gratis and as in freedom) tools out there for people to use and enjoy, it's just not the norm and don't ever expect it coming from for-profit companies, those are not known to be altruistic.
i dislike how common it is for people to take quotes or proverbs and interpret them as dogma. no, just because some dude wrote something on the other side of the world hundreds of years ago does not make it the absolute truth. i'll always favor debate and discussion in the realm of ideas.
privacy is as important for the individual as transparancy is for a group or collective. this is why i advocate for individual privacy as well as state and government transparency.
what's up with sam zeloof's atomic semi? haven't heard anything about it for a while. hope the project isn't dead, home fab is a dream worth fighting for. #hardware

i really wish that freedom of information vs infohazards were discussed and debated with the same nuance and as often as capitalism vs socialism is. i have my personal view, but i would still like to see people from both sides presenting their best arguments and refutations.
in my view: the more advanced, educated and responsible a society is, the more it should accept free information. right now there's less free information that there should be, but free information absolutism is also absurd at this point, maybe in a few centuries.
yet you go to a social network to talk about how you're a bitcoiner, if your account ever gets tied with your real identity later down the line, all your effort was in vain.
even better opsec would be to never mention it anywhere at all.
