It's pretty annoying when somebody is at your house and complains about your dog being on the furniture. I'm not holding you prisoner, you're welcome to leave it it bothers you. My dog sits on the couch, loveseat or wherever she decides looks comfortable. She also sleeps in bed with my wife and I at night. During the day she hangs out with my daughters (usually in their bedroom) and naps often in bed with one of them. I don't view my dog as a pet, she's a family member and this is her home too.
I ditched Google apps and services years ago went with Nextcloud. Used it to replace Drive, Docs, Notes, Photos, etc. Takes a few minutes to get everything set up but then you host your own data and are able to share it if you decide you want to that.
Does anybody else work for idiots or is it just me? The owner of the store I work at put her son in charge of things while she takes care of her sick husband. Within 2 years he basically bankrupted a 35+ year old business and caused 2 locations to close. Our direct deposit non longer works because "no companies know how to fix the system", so we have been being paid via paper check for 2 months now. I have an account with the same credit union the business uses and they initially put a 10 day hold on my paycheck until I caused a scene. We can't even punch in with our FOBs because it can't reach the server to log us in, so we are now writing our times on paper tonhand in each week. I feel like I'm in the twilight zone every time I go to work lately.

Tried to mobile deposit my paycheck today and was unable to because they switched the check supplier and it was "unverifiable" with my bank. A childhood friend and his wife lost a lot 2 days ago when their building caught fire. Both of them and their animals survived. One cat was found on the bathroom floor unconscious but still alive after an hour and recovered. It's unfortunate bit could have been much worse. Items are replaceable, lives are not. I was amazed to hear that the cat survived. They were able to find and get the others out but couldn't find the one.

I'm tired of working and having to put off certain bills just to kind of live. Half my weekly pay goes just to food. I get to spend my weekend off looking for more work so I can pay $400 on the electricity bill I have had to put off the last few months so that I was able to pay rent. And my oldest daughter is taking drivers ed, so I'll also need to grow enough to find her a cheap yet safe vehicle to drive soon. Sometimes I wish that I was able to go back in time and make some better life choices when I was younger. Lately I've found myself sitting up late and dreading waking up to live another day of stress. Eventually these rough patches pass tho, so onward I go.
I thought those "smart wallets" with the card ejectors was a bit gimmicky but I must say, I was mistaken. I hardly ever carry cash and it's super compact if you mostly carry cards. Plus, I now have something else in my pocket that I am able to fidget with in public, without getting weird looks. I call that a win.

I kinda dig that Open Farm pet food allows you to trace all of the ingredients they use right back to the farms they came from. It's smaller kibble as well, so Maeve isn't able to eat it as quickly and is forced to pace herself. 1 cup of the Pasture-Raised Lamb kibble and a handful of the freeze-dried raw lamb crumbled on top seems to be a hit. She has wheat as well as poultry allergies, so finding food she likes can be a bit of a headache.

I've got a Pixel 8 running Graphene and haven't cleaned my cache in about 5 months. Although, I haven't been spending a lot of time on nostr either. Amethyst was unusable on my RealmeXT and my Poco X3 NFC.

Thinking about dropping my VPS and using an old MacBook a1181 as a little home server. That might make running email a pain but I find myself using my Tutanota address more often anyways. I'll have to do a little testing first to see how things work.
I actually never got around to doing it myself. I have been thinking about picking up a Raspberry Pi or similar to use as a little home server instead. But, I haven't got around to that either.
