@669563d8 what she doesn’t get is that if you make it harder for landlords to evict they will all have to raise their rent prices to compensate and stop maintaining and making cheaper rental units.
They have already done that and I know people, middle class people, that look into buying income property and one of the first things they learn from experienced investors is to not buy property with low income rental units.
@669563d8 probably not.
Curious what she would like to see. No contracts? You only get money if you win? Universal basic income? Communism? Anarchy? Contracts that are only binding for the owner but not the athlete somehow, like if you don’t want to play you don’t have to but you still get paid?
Would be fun to see someone ask her if she wants any of those scenarios but talk like Oprah with a hand on her knee.
@ceed4f56 this is the result of kids not having any true hardship and duty. They aren’t useful. They know it too and see no way that they will ever be useful. So they like this conflict and like believing there are tons of transphobes, racists, misogynists, systemic racists, fascists, etc etc.

@7502a322 with a passion you say?
Ubuntu I have also heard people say is a good easy to use workstation os.
That updating you describe sounds like a complete destruction of one of the major pros of Linux: rock solid stability and reliability. I’m
My main thing right now is approachability. Do this, boom you have a machine that can browse the web and do a ton of things that are fun and easy to figure out.
@7502a322 headless Debian intrigued me.
Fedora is what I first used. Suse I remember being really popular for windows alternative desktops in Europe.
I really am rusty and I don’t work with anybody that works on Linux. All windows all day and some macs.
@7502a322 once I got my Linux+ cert and installed it and played with it. That was decades ago though. Now I’m thinking about installing Linux on an old PC and giving it to my 10 year old to play with. CentOS or MintOS I have heard random good things about, but I haven’t had time to devote to it, so I haven’t bothered. Anything you recommend?
@7502a322 there is this thing:

Not sexy and not secure but if you don’t care about security, which one wouldn’t if thinking ftp as an option, then it’s the easiest and most convenient thing I have found if for some reason you don’t want to use the cloud.
@7502a322 many of them remind me of the Portland dudes that have a perfectly manicured beard, maybe a muscle car, vote democrat, believe they have white privilege, have a sleeve of tattoos, drink soy lattes and consider themselves male feminists.
@85699394 scandavian countries really leave me perplexed at how they can see how important it is for the government to have faith and trust in the public but then do crap like this.
@7502a322 the “edc†guys are a little ridiculous. They are like a bunch of salesmen comparing business cards. They don’t spend enough time mentioning what makes sense for who and where and when. Instead it’s just “look what I haveâ€.
@7502a322 and I agree. They have way too much stuff to be considered “EDCâ€. EDC should be “this is what I put in my pants every day.†And it shouldn’t involve any outfitting depending on what the day is going to look like from day to day. That loses the point, in my opinion.
@7502a322 as an IT guy, I use the scissors often. The rest are handy as a dad around the house and when we go camping and I have to mess with the trailer or something. The can opener has been used as a can opener a few times and not having a can opener when you need one is quite regrettable.
I like having the file. The only problem is I forget it has one when I need one because I admittedly don’t use it very often.

@7502a322 cool. I worked in a fish cannery and was a newspaper pressmen. I enjoy that kind of work and miss fixing things that move. (Being a pressman, though, after awhile was either really boring or really stressful). If I could go back and start over I might choose to pursue a career in industrial design.
Anyway, your edc makes perfect sense now and I can see why a leatherman doesn’t work as well for you.

@7502a322 oh. That’s quite the pocket full. I’m just an IT guy that likes to go camping and backpacking. So maybe that’s why the leatherman suits me well.
I watched some “every day carry†videos on YouTube and ended up buying a pair of knipex pliers to see what they are like. I like them but I decided it would be too many things in my pocket and I didn’t want a pouch that would add another step to getting stuff.
If I had a more industrial job though, my “edc†would be more like yours.
@7502a322 man. Imagine a world where mainstream media covers such a story with details and accountability.
This is corrupt and spooky and proof that this is completely intentional.
Thanks for finding this and sharing.
