I don’t trust corporations not to kill people; I don’t trust the government to investigate them; and I don’t trust the media or news to report it accurately.
Which is probably why people are okay entertaining that idea that #Boeing may have killed the #whistleblower.
I don’t think there’s an issue investigating suspiciously-timed suicides of those testifying as key whistleblowers against corporations who are or have ties to major defense contractors.
I think it would be malpractice not to.

I am a municipal attorney, so professionally a potpourri of different law, but my personal interests lie in structural constitutional law, national security law, and 4th Amendment law.
I post a lot on politics and my opinions, which are plentiful and subject to change with new information.

The Rep Party looks so pathetic right now.
They are punishing Democrats for **Republicans** voting to remove the Speaker after failing to shut down the gov for “reasons.”
And their grand reprisals?
Room reassignment.

They are projecting their insecure hunger for mere status and empty symbols which display that status for all to see, assuming Dems also care.
In petty fights like this, the one who cares less always wins. I doubt Dems care at all.

Remember when our House was run by one of, if not the most, accomplished Speakers in the modern era?
The contrast with Speaker McCarthy, perhaps the weakest and least powerful Speaker in history, is quite stark.
He cannot whip enough votes to get close to passing anything, while she was dragging seemingly-dead legislative achievements across the finish line in the House time and time again.

I love when motions/documents go: “We demand X. See statutes 98.01-98.99.”
And that is just citing to almost the entire chapter on Discovery or something.
Although at least these cites are correct and not… oh dear. Nope they even wrote down the wrong provision, off by a number.
I don’t think the statutory codification of the right to jury trial is going to effectuate their demands here. 🥸

I forgot the cardinal rule of cleaning while trying to clean the urine smell from my carpet where Mayhem had an accident:

This might be a long-shot, but is there anyone out there in the #Fediverse which knows of a good camera/surveillance product which records and retains for at least 24 hours before dumping *AND* does not require a subscription to a cloud storage or any other subscription?
It’s for my dog/home, but I don’t want it streaming video of my home to be on some corporation’s database.
Drives me insane it’s so hard to find any, maybe I’m just not looking right.

My biggest concern about Biden’s age is if he dies after being elected and before the electors are chosen.
You’d get a reasonable-sounding argument that the person who came in second should be president, enough to kick up dirt.
And then it becomes a political debate over whether Trump or Harris should be president. The media goes nuts, red states go Trump, blue states go Harris, purple states end in chaos. SCOTUS intervenes or lets House decide.
I can't believe anyone was worried about #DeSantis possibly winning the #Republican nomination.
His team cant even figure out that debating *anyone* except #Trump or President #Biden only makes him look small, unimportant, and worst of all:
not at the presidential level.

You know what makes me never want to subscribe to Foreign Policy magazine ever again, even though I had enjoyed one previously?
That they make it impossible to find how to unsubscribe from email lists OR to delete your account.
I'll never patronize them again, what an indictment of the quality of their own product that they have to trick you into keeping it.
I don’t know if I’ve ever posted about it on here, maybe during an intro, but I recognize that I use aggressive language or take more extreme positions.
It’s very intentional.
I don’t think “civility” works when the status quo is clearly immoral and getting worse. Civility is a call from those empowered by it.
However not everyone is privileged enough to be confrontational and be okay if there are repercussions or someone comes for them.
I have that privilege and so I try to use it.
Justice Alito’s judicial philosophy is voting for his friends.
Justice Thomas’ judicial philosophy is voting for people who pay him.
They should both be thrown out on their asses for their conduct and behavior it response. It’s a national disgrace that they remain.
You can’t trust a single word they write to be in good faith, uncorrupted, and apolitical, let alone based on valid legal reasoning.

As one of the few practicing attorneys who has never taken the Bar Exam, it seems ridiculous to me.
Maybe because I haven't taken it so I am not affected by the weird "rite of passage" kind of mentality, but it seems pretty obvious its not relevant to actual practice once you are practicing.
A better measure of a successful attorney would be to look at their organizational and scheduling skills. The worst attorneys I know of **simply don't show up.**
I don’t know how I feel about the Speech & Debate Clause and accessing a representative’s cell phone data.
I both think it’s probably more protection than I’d like, but also can see how investigations could easily be abused and the danger being addressed by the clause.
Do I want conservatives going to conservative federal judges and going through democrat’s phones?
I do not. Do I think they would do something so politically sensitive without good cause?
Of course I do.
Me, an hour before work, sitting with my coffee and looking over at my laptop just sitting there:
“I’m not working, I’m just going to open my email and make sure I didn’t get anything time sensitive overnight.”
Four hours of working later…
“Whoops.”

No one should be shocked when Justice Alito fails to act ethically.
He’s already said he isn’t bound by ethical considerations and his actions have been consistent with that declaration.
1. It’s hilarious they call this his “survival strategy” because I bet that’s quite literal.
2. McConnell will leave the Senate when Hell freezes over, or when he sufficiently freezes over and goes to Hell.
3. I don’t wish him well; the country will be better to be rid of him. I don’t cry for the wicked.
