I don't believe that the two-day bar exam measures competence to practice law. I think it is a measure of who is good at standardized exams. Based on a arbitrary score, an individual can open a practice and represent clients in areas never even tested on the exam. The CA State Bar BoT will consider a proposal for an alternative pathway to licensure. I hope you will read the full proposal. It's time we measured what matters. #law #lawyers #lawprofs #lawfedi https://board.calbar.ca.gov/Agenda.aspx?id=17030&tid=0&show=100036219&s=true#10044856
@f74b1fb3 Interesting proposal. More like reading the law...the report itself is here: https://board.calbar.ca.gov/Agenda.aspx?id=17030&tid=0&show=100036219&s=true#10044856
@f74b1fb3 As one of the few practicing attorneys who has never taken the Bar Exam, it seems ridiculous to me. Maybe because I haven't taken it so I am not affected by the weird "rite of passage" kind of mentality, but it seems pretty obvious its not relevant to actual practice once you are practicing. A better measure of a successful attorney would be to look at their organizational and scheduling skills. The worst attorneys I know of **simply don't show up.**
