That is understandable. Inktober is a challenge.
I've been doing daily drawing... So I will just continue that. Although, does it count if it's not ink? Because I'm getting bored of just drawing in my sketchbook 😅
I think its because there is no challenge when you get used to it. No new ideas. Which isn't bad, that is a challenge in and of itself. But yes, after 6 months I do want to change it up. I miss painting I have no paints right now sadly.
Always have back ups! Do you have time machine set up? I personally keep all important files on a harddrive. So if I need to reboot my computer I'm not worried.
But so far I have not needed to do that. If it's REALLY that bad, you can take your computer to an Apple store and they can redownload the whole OS.
If you are following tutorials and doing your own research I don't think you'll have severe problems. Just don't delete things you're not sure about.
The reason I suggested a VM is because its fairly easy to set up, and you can get familiar with the interface. Hopefully giving you the confidence and motivation. And when you are ready you can buy a whole machine just dedicated to Linux.
Yes time machine needs to be set up. You can control how often it backs up your data. I recommend using a hard drive as well. You can partition a hard drive so that one part is just dedicated to the time machine back up.

Yea, I think the VM is a good first step. I know its a lot to go out and buy a whole new computer for something you're not even sure how to use yet. I think with familiarity it will hopefully make things easier!
Looking back at my notes I used Oracle VirtualBox. It worked fine. But I don't know if its the best. My teacher just recommended it.

I gotta say, when I was working with this stuff it was kind of frustrating at first because its so unfamiliar. But once I made several mistakes and fixed them I had a lot more confidence! So don't be afraid of making mistakes, that's how you learn. I even helped other classmates with mistakes I didn't know you could make 😂

I only have an old Macbook. (No M1) When I had courses that required Windows or Linux I would just have a virtual machine on my laptop. Maybe that would be a good first step for you.
Here is a tutorial that looks simple enough. Although do your own research! Do what works for you.

Thanks! Its definitely a challenge 😅 although next month is inktober... So I might continue just because that's literally what I've been doing. But idk I've become lethargic toward my sketches. Maybe I need to change it up somehow.
I found that just getting the perspective right is the cheat. Everything else can be up to interpretation. Although, depending on your style, you might not even need perspective 😆 anyway, good start!
You can download an image of the Mona Lisa as well. But it does not mean you have the Mona Lisa. You definitely bring up an interesting argument about art, value, and such. Anyway, it boils down to what you value and want. And what you even get with purchasing the original/NFT.
Yea, it just depends on what the individual person wants and values. As an artist myself I think there is way more value in making a connection to the artist and being involved. But from someone who just wants a pretty picture for their wallpaper or profile picture than the goal and value is different.
It's a mistake to assume everyone wants the same thing.
We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming to bring you - Random thought: how much do we really have left? Assume you have 60 years left you would have:
21,900 sunrises and sunsets left.
720 full moons
60 chances to see snow
(weather permitting)
60 chances to travel or move
We have millions of opportunities to make memories. 1,893,456,000 of them.
How often do you hug a loved one? You need at least 4 a day! At least 87,600 for the rest of your life.
Go hug someone or a pet.
It's interesting to see how much time and opportunity we have left and what we could potentially fill it with.

That's what I find so interesting about literature and art. Out of context you can enjoy anything. And then when you learn about the author/artist it can be almost horrifying. More recent examples like Michael Jackson, Woody Allen, anyone in Hollywood, etc. I think there's a trend right now where people are translating Hitlers speeches and they are horrified by how they actually make sense. Idk I haven't read them. But I wouldn't be surprised.
Do you seperate the artist from the art? Or is that part of it? If so, why?
I personally see a trend that the "brightest"/noticable people usually have the darkest shadow. If they were happy with their lives they would not have created or done half of what they ended up doing because they would be too busy enjoying life. Anyway, I guess I'm in an introspective mood 😂 apologies for the rambling.
Yea I think it definitely adds a complexity. Like, wouldn't they also know what is beautiful? Maybe they have a better idea of ugliness and truth. Albeit skewed. How does that relate to our own views? Etc. I always hesitate to learn about an author or artist if I truly enjoy the work. Although, the one creator I recently learned about that just seems bad ass is the woman who came up with Sailor Moon 😂 but I'm sure there is more to it.

I guess some people need to sign up for a waiting list.
