You can download an image of the Mona Lisa as well. But it does not mean you have the Mona Lisa. You definitely bring up an interesting argument about art, value, and such. Anyway, it boils down to what you value and want. And what you even get with purchasing the original/NFT. 

 I can’t speak for anyone but myself but when you purchase a commission piece from me, I send you updates every few days of how your piece is progressing as proof of work. 
That way, the customer is more involved in  the whole creative process, from sketch to finished piece. 

 Yea, it just depends on what the individual person wants and values. As an artist myself I think there is way more value in making a connection to the artist and being involved. But from someone who just wants a pretty picture for their wallpaper or profile picture  than the goal and value is different.
It's a mistake to assume everyone wants the same thing. 

 Intellectual property does not work without someone forcing you to accept that It is somone else's property.  

 But then you're not doing blockchain-y stuff 😂😂 

 It appeals to the people who believe in the fiat of patents...
