Good morning, friends.
Time change has messed me up, woke up really early, especially given the time change.🤷♂️
Rehearsal tonight, so running my set list in the background while I work.
Have a good one if you can.🌞
Going to try to go to bed early. I've been averaging 30 minutes of deep sleep, which is lousy, and I can feel the effects. Let's hope it's better tonight. Rest well friends.
Switched my phone display into grayscale mode in hopes of using it less, and being less distracted by it. I don’t know if it will will work, but I will say it feels more peaceful to use.
We live in an era of attention seeking, hyper saturated UX, and I could use less of it.
Today seemed to be day of perpetual machinery making noise on our street. Leaf blowers, paving, mowers, and I don't know what else.
When I'm super tired I have a very low noise threshold so I'm ready to be done with that. A cheeseburger for dinner will rectify some of the situation.
Time to talk myself into doing 20 minutes on the stepper, so I can talk myself into doing 15 more once I'm on there. Not feeling it today, I'd rather nap honestly.😂
If something intrigues, delights, or otherwise fulfills you, don't let others make you feel stupid for enjoying it.
Why should they get to rob your joy with their lack of imagination?
Life is short, conformity is overrated. Find what moves you.
If chance meetings or incidents can change the direction of your life, so can algorithms and targeted marketing.
I don't like this notion very much, but it's unfortunately true.
Had one of those, I'm so exhausted I fell asleep and woke up in the same position sleeps. Thankful I finally got some rest. Have good day out there folks!
@bb543141 Probably because they ushered in the era and blazed a path for lower returns for musicians. First mover gets the hate sometimes?
I don't use them, in part because of that, but also in part because I don't like the experience. I don't want to be algorithmically spoon-fed.
Today I re-hid the dock on MacOS, a system update undid it a while back and I forgot about it.
It sounds like a small thing, but not having the icons the bottom of the screen leads to far less app distraction and jumping into the browser while I'm coding.
I also hide the top system menu.

Maybe -- just maybe, we're starting to get tired of what huge corporations have done, and can do to us, and we're starting to push back.
They want to make it impossible for us to separate from them, but we can find a way.
No Apple Watch, I will not be participating in your regiments today. Going to stand up and not stand up when I feel like it. Get my exercise in small doses at weird time.
What are helpful reminders on many days serve as irritations on others. This day doesn't fit your map.
Lost a credit card, argh. I think the waitress forgot to put it back in the receipt holder and I just assumed I had already put it in my wallet.
This is not like me, I always double check this sort of stuff.
Finding myself on the wrong side of a mood today, going to have to turn it around.
Today was a bit punishing by intention. Pushed myself in exercising. Massively reduced sugar and carb intake. No snacking. After weeks of bad eating I had to do a reboot.
It won't be totally sustainable, but it sets a goal to work toward and try to stick to.
Midlife is not the time to throw in the towel on good habits.
Thinking about the opportunity we have here on Mastodon, I believe this is the most important thing:
Throughout the history of mass media, and especially now, we have been told what to:
Want
Like
Be
Hear
Watch
Wear
Think
This is our chance to take our autonomy back -- to decide what kinds of lives we want to have and what matters.
Let's change the society that constantly says we are not enough, into one that celebrates our uniqueness and encourages the healthy discourse of new ideas.
