 @bb543141 Probably because they ushered in the era and blazed a path for lower returns for musicians. First mover gets the hate sometimes? 

I don't use them, in part because of that, but also in part because I don't like the experience. I don't want to be algorithmically spoon-fed.

 @3b9b0957 i like discovering music that way, but i train my suggested algorithms aggressively. I used Last.fm for that purpose and was so very happy until they switched to populating their player with YouTube videos.. so I was often served neverending ads and mislabeled music.

These days, feels like another shift needs to happen, because Spotify being the only game in town does not work. :(
