Meet one of my students:
This is Maria Isabel Canto Trujillo, she goes by China. She was born in Halachó Yucatana.
China is 47 years old. She embodies a rare joy that can light up even the darkest of rooms. Yet, her journey has been anything but easy.
China was abandoned by her mother at the age of 3 and had to learn the harsh lessons of survival early on.
There were days when hunger drove her to rely on coconuts plucked from trees for sustenance. That is why she has been working for as long as she can remember.
By the age of 15, she ran away from her abusive home to another lesser abusive environment. And that was just the beginning.
The reality is, she has been working for a currency that offers her no way out. With the constant devaluation of the Mexican peso, her work is nonexistent. But China has hope.
And that is why she wants to learn about #bitcoin to give her the freedom she has been chasing since she was 15.

Meet one of my students:
Ezequiel Garrido, 23 years old, born in Isla Mujeres, Mexico.
“I am interested in learning more about Bitcoin because I believe it offers a path to economic freedom and stability. This, in turn, would enable me to fulfill myself more as a person, help my family, and pursue my dreams of traveling and exploring the world. I also see it as an opportunity to start independent projects and become self-sustainable. (I remember hearing about Bitcoin from a YouTuber when I was 15 and briefly tried cryptocurrency mining. However, I couldn't delve deeply into it, lost my account, and only rediscovered Bitcoin when I started working at Mayakita.)
Living in Isla Mujeres, a renowned tourist destination, has its challenges. The increase in the value of the dollar has made things difficult, as many transportation and private services prioritize foreign currencies like the dollar or euro, leading to economic discrimination within the community.” - translated from Spanish

Hear me out, why do banks allow overdraft fees to happen?
Why don’t they just CANCEL a payment instead of allowing it to go through if the funds are not there?
Why would they keep charging someone for being broke? It makes no sense to me 😂
Like BoA, if the funds aren’t there in the first place how am I supposed to get the overdraft fees?
