I was using a tool (that was too advanced for my current knowledge) over the course of many months, which frustrated me, I couldn’t use properly, or explain my frustration. Waaaay easier to figure out than Alby was (back then I couldn’t find my ass with both hands on #nostr), so it isn’t quite fair to Alby. Already, after only 20 minutes, I am one-tap zapping again on #Damus. I am in love ♡
You really helped me out, my brother, I figured it out. If you hadn’t mentioned it, I wouldn’t get any zaps ‘cause my profile was still set on Alby NWC, and I would not have thought to change it.
Yes. I was here for that shizzle. It used to be a silky breeze, one-tap zapping in #Damus, about a year ago, until the rotten fruit company got a bee in their bonnet about zaps. Also, Wallet of Satoshi got some bad press in America, forcing us to choose other wallets. It got weird. Checking out zapple.pay in a minute. I didn’t want to bug the devs with my nonsense, so I stuck this Alby sitch out until I got the news that they are sunsetting the free wallet on January 3.
Great idea, but some may be squeamish about live-streaming with their mugs exposed. I know several who skipped #Nostrville because they didn’t want to be doxed.
I deleted Alby tonight. I thought I had deleted it yesterday, but kept getting emails from them about receiving zaps. So I contacted them again, tried to send my Sats 丰 to my primal wallet (nothing doing), or zap them all the way out to some plebs, again nothing doing. So I am on #Damus and use #Primal for zaps because #Damus zapping has been a nightmare since I connected to Alby about a year ago. I can receive them, but I can’t zap them out directly from #Damus. I have to (every zap) select wallet, then choose zap amount, then get bad auth error, then gnash me teeth, then go to Alby wallet, send Sats 丰 to Strike for safe-keeping, then go to that npub I want to zap in Primal’s native wallet and zap them from there. I want to zap from both clients, but I guess zaps have to be received in only one of those client’s wallets. WoS going south is why I connected to Alby in the first place. It was a mistake for me at my level of understanding at the time. Zaps have been a PITA ever since on Damus.
Thank you. That explains that, at least, Sats 丰 are not being “wasted” in a locked wallet that can’t be drained. Now I just have to ditch it, and investigate my way to Zapple Pay. Thanks so much for hearing me out and troubleshooting this with me.
Why/what is a NWC (Nostr Wallet Connect)? Why is it necessary? Primal doesn’t seem to need it. It seems an unnecessary step, but it has to have value or Damus wouldn’t fool with it.

What if I just deleted my Alby account? How do I change my lightning address to another wallet I have? Just type it into my profile settings? I absolutely love my #Primal native wallet. Instant ledger, one-tap zaps, easy UX, goodlooking. But something happened where I cannot receive zaps into it, only zap out, or send Sats 丰 from another wallet to it. All zaps I receive go into this nightmare Blue Wallet that was attached to Alby, which I thought I deleted Alby yesterday, after sending all Sats 丰 to one of my other hot wallets. Only to find I was still receiving zaps/emails re the blanking Alby thing (which is way above my pay grade). Now it is deleted and I can’t zap out of the Blue Wallet, or send the few remaining Sats to any other wallet. Feel for the noob who gets stuck and doesn’t have all the support that I am getting from y’all.

Yes. Mother underwent a surgery where a surgical pad was left in the wound. She kept not healing and having pain until they found it several months later via x-ray or ultrasound. The removal surgery was quickly followed up with a bedside visit by the doctor to get her to sign a release from indemnity form. I will never forget her face as she looked to me for an answer whether she should sign or not. I still wonder if I should have dissuaded her from signing. My thoughts were that we were not sewers/suers. Her surgeries never fixed what she had initially gone under for. I am not sure suing would have brought closure either though.
I agree that it is fatal to retire and do nothing but sip coffee and sit on the sofa. To reduce one’s life work and embark upon new pursuits is my definition of “retirement”.

Not particularly. I just wearied of going to Alby to send Sats 丰 to my Primal native wallet, or one of my other lightning wallets, and getting emails for every zap received on #nostr. Primal wallet has a much easier UX, a native ledger, and is not charging for their wallet, which Alby plans to do on January 3, 2025. Also, I never used it as it should be used, that whole NWC motif escaped my small cranium. Besides, I needed to scale back and simplify. I have 4 lightning wallets for crissakes.
Alby is will begin charging for their now-free wallet on January 3, 2025. They will be rolling our explanations soon, or you can tag them @Alby and they will explain. It is a good company, great customer service. I just was not using the NWC fiunctions enough to justify keeping it.
I deleted my account yesterday after draining my wallet/sending Sats 丰 to a functional wallet I already had. There is an option to answer several questions about why I was leaving, which I did extensively, with candor and appreciation for all @Alby has done for the past year and a half.
