I’m a phone call with a client, and he had to take a customer; I’ve been listening to the two of them chat for the last few minutes about how somebody simply *must* open up a cheese shop next door… 🧀 dunno why but the whole experience feels kind of surreal 🤷♂️
I respect that. I got the lil micro one as a compromise: looking at it on my windowsill still gives me a little spark of excitement (the “cool” factor of case-less electronics) and it’s proven to be a useful conversation-starter when we have guests.
That said, the unit (like many things) may someday prove to be an extravagantly expensive toy, in terms of its Bitcoin-denominated purchase price… but this is true of any non-essential expenditure… It’s true of the essential ones too, but a man’s gotta eat 😂
It’s cool that every individual’s value-set or perspective varies in this way, sometimes slightly/sometimes dramatically. And what’s even cooler, is the impact that the experience of holding Bitcoin has on each of us, in how it shifts our way of valuing things, time, energy.
Happy Thursday, nostriches 🤙
Busy start to the day today, with an ass-kicking workout and more fiat-mining-meetings than I care to count. Need more coffee please.
A late lunch break is a great chance for a little walk and fresh (cold!) air, though. Need some outdoor time.
How is your 🫵 day?
(Is it just me, or does the pointing emoji feel weirdly aggressive? Lol)

Feeling accomplished 🫡 I just finished helping one of my leftmost-leaning family members set up a new VPN and move from Gmail to Proton.
Next step will be Signal, and then perhaps a service like Incogni or DeleteMe, although I’m not certain how useful those really are… (?)
Are there any nostr-native privacy tools (“other stuff”) that are worth recommending to a technology-competent newbie?

Proton offers deals on their paid accounts pretty regularly, if that helps. With all the free stuff out there, I try to be pretty discerning about using a paid service, but proton is unequivocally worth the fee sats 🤙
Meaning stuff like photos that would be stored in iCloud, or documents im Google Drive, for example?
Figuring Proton Drive would suffice for now, pretty user-friendly, if she wants to take that step.
One of my medium-term projects is to set up a proper home server with something like StartOS and offer storage to family and best friends for whoever wants it. But I need to “put on my own oxygen mask” (and learn what the hell I’m doing) first 😉
Stoked to see what Jeff builds 🔥💥
And I’m in complete agreement. I’ve long thought that Bitcoin is as much a progressive movement as it is a conservative one. (I know I know, it’s an oxymoron, but like… it’s also kind of true). I straddle both traditional camps depending on the issue at hand, usually landing within a “classical liberal” perspective.
Most of my closest people are left-leaning at least, that was until I found Bitcoin and nostr, and now my people are truly everywhere 🫂
But yeah I am eager for opportunities to help those closest to me start to understand Bitcoin, privacy, and freedom tech in general, now that more of them are beginning to understand why it’s important 🫡
Yeah exactly. This hearing was pretty fucking crazy, to see the level of “yeah the US and other governments have recovered numerous non-human vehicles and other tech and we’re trying to reverse-engineer it, and we need to destigmatize it so that civilian pilots can be comfortable reporting what they encounter” 🤯🤯
I know. Like part of me wants to be skeptical but honestly, the “occam’s razor” take (imo) is that yeah, intelligent non-human life/tech is a thing, it’s been a thing, it’s here, and the people who know about it need to figure out how to responsibly disclose it to the public.
Could be a psy-op, and sure maybe it’s reverse reverse reverse psychology, sure… but I think it’s more likely real and we just get to deal with it 🤷♂️
Star Wars: Battlefront for MacOS 😂
I think the games we played (and music we discovered, places we went, etc) while our brains and psyches were developing exist in a special kind of “memory slot” (to sound equally nerdy, lol) which for some reason drives a lot of nostalgic emotional association. Love it 🤙
Odd, well, my bad - apologies to Phil for the incorrect addition tag. Not sure how that happened. Tried to get Steve @moneyball tagged in, and looks like you two were showing up side-by-side in my Damus user suggestions 🤦♂️
Despite this lengthy quote note in place of a quick edit, I am still mostly situated in the no-edits-on-Nostr-camp, in the service of pure, raw authenticity… but some moments do make me wonder 😂 nostr:note16n75cxxcawha3q9rqvmqt7fc9ep32tuwpp9zu59jduh5rgywd96qrp6lly
😁🫡 price action primarily but with a nod toward shifting regulatory tides. Something along the lines of;
“Record-breaking bitcoin surges towards $90K on Trump boost: Bitcoin jumps to $90K today riding wave of euphoria since election on expectations of crypto-friendly administration”
Paraphrased of course, lol
So will the UAP disclosures on Wednesday precipitate a black swan drawdown or a Bitcoin-eats-everything pump?
I bet the aliens would do the math. Only 21m BTC in the universe… Talk about some serious game theory 👽
Cc @MatthewPines 😁😉
