Why won’t miners support a fork that increases the total supply of bitcoin to maintain block subsidies? I feel like its because it hurts the main value proposition of the thing they are mining, but is there anything else that might dissuade miners from a move
like this in the future?
"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered.... I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies.... The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."

Rare politically charged post Rudy Nutstink.
Where is race rage on the demographics of home buyers in 2023? The singular US policy to help middle class families save is investing in a home. Everything else is fairly out of reach and risky. And they have made that savings vehicle so unaffordable they are effectively cutting people who are black and hispanic out of this one hope of storing value. The wealth disparity among races will not shrink, and will in fact grow because of this. And the government will not shoulder the blame for this horrendous policy when all is said and done.

I completely agree, my general problem with the entire thing is really that the US has hinged its entire middle class’ life quality on the dream of owning a home. And its quickly fading for literally anyone outside the top 15%.
Exactly, the whole underlying policy is a mess. I was just making the point that its going to hurt some of the very goals our government claims they are championing. But you won’t see the anger about this, because its still too abstract for any average person to know that they will never own anything.
Being the first customer, I absolutely can attest. Its a slick look and the perfect fit/comfort for an early crisp spring morning tee time. ⛳️
Next time I am on the course I will take a video of me hitting a piss missile in this quarterzip.

How can we make recommendations for adding to the categories?
They are in a pretty raw form, but I am actively working on improving them. Its american sports accounts created on a per league basis. So far I have
@sportstrNFL@sportstrMLB@sportstrncaambb
@sportstrNBA
Reminder that bitcoin is quite the creation, but do you not put your hope and trust in anything but your Creator. Christ is risen, he has conquered death.
”For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.“
Ephesians 2:8-10 ESV
I don’t understand all of the debates, do we have any visualizations for the outbox model vs whatever the other side is? Or any other good reads on this?
Welp I think my sportstr app got banned from a relay. Probably bc my relay connection methods are pretty abusive. Need to go back to the drawing board I think 😔
A complete tragedy in Baltimore with the bridge collapse.
But I don’t think it’s wrong to immediately demand answers why a bridge in one of the most highly trafficked bays in America couldn’t handle a barge hitting it without a total collapse.
Pushed updates that dockerized the project and its now running 24/7 on my home server. No more interruptions bc my laptop shutoff and the cron job didn’t fire.
Up next is live scores for halftime, fulltime, day schedules, and upset alerts. Periodic standings etc

Thats a great story and I think individual stories are not without their own merit. But I am talking about the large majority of the next generation. And my claim isn’t even that their test scores are lower, or their behaviors are erratic and unacceptable (which they are). They lack basic intuition on almost anything. They have all had their dopamine receptors fried by age 4 and can’t muster any level of interest in understanding something that isn’t immediately apparent to them. We have overwhelmed our children with path of least resistance and now they don’t know anything outside of that.
Good parenting at home has been the only thing that is saving children from this really doomish future. But it’s surprisingly a lot smaller of a cohort than you would think.
These are definitely judgements, but its what I have been able to gather watching my wife teach in the public school system these last few years. Covid lockdowns did a number on our society.
“Rudy, Mint shuts down on March 23, 2024.*
Now’s the time to make your move to Credit Karma. By doing so, you can keep your entire net worth history, all of your Mint transactions and your supported account connections – that’s history you don’t want to lose.”
Credit Karma bought all of my financial data, not the mint app.
Okay think about all the people who “put money on the internet” and what they went on to do.
Okay now think about what all the people working to actually put money on the internet right now and consider what they will go on to do. The future is bright mfers!

I think with most nascent technology, the user experience lacks and can be quite rough around the edges. The nostr network is very young but onto something good. Clients like the primal app have bridged major gaps in the experience and so its just going to take great engineers to build a better experience.
For tiktok, a client that resembles that same style of scrollable video feed would be a great start to make the newcomers stick, and I would bet someone is already hitting the ground running on that.
But really for users of the network, its just going to take a lot willpower until those upgrades come. Its a very grassroots movement and if you are lucky enough to hang with it through that time, you will see something really amazing grow. Just gonna take time!
Not buying that the tiktokers are here and are just loving it way way more than tiktok. Lets not be naive.
Happy if we get even 10% of newcomers from anywhere to stick on the first try.
I can actually keep the current rss feed sources. I think I might just use espn’s api for score updates, starting rosters, league standings update, etc.
I had read that a paid relay gets content more engagement and reach and I don’t fully understand why. But @fiatjaf's experiment obviously displays thats difference.
I am torn how I feel about it.
On one hand, this adds costs to spam bots thus limiting their reach and probably how things should be.
On another hand, my little bot friends that bring me content, will be just that. Only for me, bc it otherwise will cost me $10 per bot per year to get them on a paid relay. I know its not much, but its not a cost I am willing to volunteer just to unlock the value for everyone else.
Some possible solutions to this:
A whitelist deal? Reach out to a popular paid relay (cough cough 🍷) and ask them for free lifetime connection if the lightning address for zaps goes to their wallet. Now they can make these content bots a part of the suite of content you get when you connect?
But this creates centralization… oi
Or maybe scratch the whole zaps go to them. I just offer the fact the content is worth something. Or that they can build their own. Maybe a paid relay should be offering the people something more. Create a competition. Relays may actually need to broker deals with content creators. Bring some capitalism to nostr.
This all works well for the content consumer, but create a discovery problem for the content creators. For folks looking for reach, they have to pick the best pay walled relay. And thats not great for decentralization.
Other thoughts would be to integrate some sort of follow + connect to private relay.
For instance if I were some big shot like Lyn Alden. I would run my own relay to own my own data. Then I would connect to popular client relays for discoverability, buy my posts would only go to my private relay. And when you follow me, you get an automatic connection my relay. Maybe a one time zap to do it to prevent spam connections.
Its true, I realized when sports news aren’t getting spoon fed to you by an algorithm, you gotta learn how to write an RSS sports news bot that posts this stuff for you.
So I made @sportstrNFL@sportstrMLB and @sportstrncaambb. It was a good way to spend downtime on a weekend 👍
Okay, sportstr V1 is pushed to github!
https://github.com/jbrauck-unchained/sportstr
You may not love sports but you may have another passion you want to create a nostr bot account for!
The accounts currently live are
@sportstrNFL@sportstrMLB@sportstrncaambb@sportstrphilly
Still lots of work to be done and sports to add!
Please share so that more “did you catch the game last night?” guys come to nostr! Nostr is for everyone!
They judge this with a metric called tps (transactions per second) and its very flawed. But that being said, on the base layer XRP has orders of magnitude more capacity like 7 tps vs 3000 tps.
Lightning can theoretically handle millions per second, though this is limited in a way by the base layer entry.
Lastly, other chains beat out bitcoin on base layer speed because bitcoin doesn’t compromise decentralization for performance enhancements which cryptos like XRP have done unashamedly.
Going to bed bullish on nostr bc I have an actual viable plan to get sports scores and news to my feed, so I don’t I need to crawl back to twitter again.
