I have a 300 line Bash script that fully automates my build process. Rewriting it in Python won't make it any faster or make the game come out any sooner, but I'm having a hard time resisting the call of the coding siren.
Question for Mastodon: I have a bunch of CP/M 5.25 floppy disks that I want to "liberate" a bunch of Z80 code I did as a kid (the world needs to see my Space Invaders clone). Any ideas of a simple/easy to get read them? My CP/M machine is long gone. Tracking down old CP/M machines is outside the scope of easy.
@1d22b61e I still have all the floppies... I should try and get stuff off of of them... No idea how to start that process. It's all Z80 assembly, so it's only interesting for my nostalgia.
@14c4c4f4 There was one time (not on a plane) where tried to deflect the question by saying "I make mainly narrative games" and they said "oh, like Monkey Island."
When I first started making games, I'd be sitting next to someone on a plane and they'd ask me what I did. I'd say "I make video games" and they would stare at me unable to process what I said. Now I say "I make video games" and they talk non-stop about what they are playing. I preferred the old way.
I switched from DuckDuckGo to Kagi for search. It's paid and the results aren't as deep but the quality so far is much better. Once I go past the free tier I'll reevaluate it, but so far very happy. All the junk sites no long show up.
Dear #godotengine, please use someone besides PayPal for payment, they are a morally bankrupt company that stole money from me and closed my account for no reason. I would love to give you money, but not through PayPal.
Dear Unity board members: You need a CEO that understands and loves game engines. I'll take the job for $11 million a year. Look, I just saved you $1 million dollars a year. Dividends are already starting to pay off.
