- ... Warm Beer?
I dunno... Haha!
No problems. It was kinda like work association. You know:
England = Warm Beer
Because I come from the youngest colony in the Empire, our history only dates back around 200 years of colonisation, and 400 years of native populace. Archaeology and History are two things we severely lack, so I find a country like England to be interesting in that respect.
Our history can mostly be memorised over a weekend, but England can be studied over a lifetime.
Had a similar problems here, when helping open a Vape Shop. Banks called it a 'volatile unregulated indistry', even after being government regulated for 4 years, with a proven history of savings, turnover, profit, transactions and professional references.
Go back another 10 years, I was still tripping over the phone cord; thinking that starting a campfire with a magnifying glass was neat; buying 100 sweets with my 50c allowance; drinking the cream off the top of glass bottle foil topped milk that has just been delivered by the milk man...
Most releases are done like this:
Major Release - Minor Release/Patch - Minor patch/Bugfix
So "3.7.5" would be Release 3, Patch 7, Bugfix 5.
This is not universal, but it's a fairly common methodology. Every developer has different ideas about how to do release numbering, so there's no hard and fast rule that governs every project.
Patches are usually a bundle of bugfixes, bugfixes are small updates that solve single issues.
So a major release is usually a major feature update(s). A major patch is like a group of bugfixes and updates to solve major issues, and bugfixes are usually quick fixes for urgent issues.
Finally penciled in my #vacation. End of July, two weeks. Thinking about packing up my #motorcycle and touring the country from end to end. I was thinking about #filming and #photographing it and posting it on #nostr. What do you think? Good idea? Or nah.
Cool. I'm thinking of roughing it the whole way, parking up and #wildcamping along the way, cooking on a tiny camp stove and stuff. Just me and the road, with a ton of scenery. Hopefully I can take some good photos and some decent video. 😁
Oh, I wish I were. That WOULD be epic. No, I'm from Kiwi Land. So it'll be about 1500 kilometers (about 1000 miles for our American brethren), round trip. I'm hoping to get to the Glaciers and mountains along the way, as well as some of the surf and fishing. 😁
I would guess that it woulddepends on the local economy. If a loaf of bread is worth $1 of a local fiat currency, and the local exchange rate for BTC is about $1=0.000015BTC, then I'd guess that you might be able to get about 3-5 days if you're frugal. It also depends on the buying power of your local fiat. For example, USD will get you more BTC per dollar than the Philippino Peso.
And here's the magic line:
ffmpeg -i input.mkv -map 0:v -map 0:a -map 0:s? -map 0:d? -c copy -c:v:0 av1_qsv -preset veryslow -vf "format=p010le" -extbrc 1 -look_ahead 1 -look_ahead_depth 40 -extra_hw_frames 40 -tile_cols 1 -tile_rows 1 -q 32 -low_power 0 -adaptive_i 1 -adaptive_b 1 -b_strategy 1 -bf 7 output.mkv
I'm a little proud of myself for getting it working. Most of it isn't documented anywhere (at least not well), so at best, it was a lot of guesswork, held together with duct tape and number 8 fencing wire.
Holy crap... This little beast pumps! Sparkle Intel Arc A310 Eco. 50W TDP, and can draw what it needs directly from the PCIe supply, no external power required. AV1 encoding is glorious. Perceptual loss is minimal, and file sizes are about 70% smaller than h.264 for roughly equivalent quality, especially when combined with Opus for audio.
Took a little kajiggering to get it working right with ffmpeg, but damned if it doesn't fly through encoding tasks.
Just make sure to enable Resizable BAR in your BIOS to take full advantage of it.
By comparison to my old nVidia Quadro P2000, it's far and away the better of the two. Encoding; running a Media Server; Tranescoding on the fly... Well worth the $200 I paid, considering the P2000 still sells for $400 Second Hand here...

No matter how lonely I've felt over the years, I take solace in the fact that there is always someone to point and laugh and me when I land on my ass. 😁

Another possibility, is put the website on ice, and take a break. Try other things and come back to it later. You may find that the alternatives provide you perspective on the situation. 👍
When I started my old business years ago, I found myself overwhelmed by the potential damage my choices could create. Suddenly everything I was confronted with carried much more weight, and it was an ominous feeling. My reaction was to shrug it off, as if it made me less responsible for those choices. Stepping away for a bit, put things in perspective and made it a lot easier to decide what was important and what I would be able to skip over safely. 😁
Damn, sorry. I don't really do mainstream apps like Telegram. Simplex, Briar, Signal and Session are the only ones I have. It was a choice I made for privacy's sake, no judgment of course. 👍
We can just continue here. I just thought it might be better not to talk about your business in the open.
Would you mind explaining what your potential business is exactly?
If the community could guarantee a steady flow of customers, and provide help with funding - I'd do it. I have the requisite business experience, so would be interested. 😁👍
Well, mine told me I was an idiot, and that I would never amount to anything, back when I was a teenager. I'm just glad I'm living up to expectations. 🤣
Oh, I see. So the first three gears aren't long enough? When you ride, what RPM range do you use in the first 3 gears? When I got my Ninja, I made the mistake of riding it like my KLE. The KLE rode like a tractor, you had to keep the RPM low, because that's were all the torque was. The Ninja is different. You have to keep the RPM between 5,000 and 9,000 to get the best out of it, that's where the engine is most comfortable. It took me a long time to get used too it. At high RPM, there is less wear on the engine, and it doesn't need to work as hard. If that doesn't help, you could change the rear sprocket down a tooth or two, or the front sprocket up a tooth. That should help a little.
As a side note, I stay in 2nd gear all the way up to about 45kph, then 3rd gear up to about 65-70kph. Around town in traffic, I usually stay in 1st and 2nd. Remember your throttle control, and use rev-matching and engine braking where possible. It is bred from a sports bike, so it can need very precise throttle control at higher RPM.
