Net net .. it is still the best of fiats !
Thus .. it will continue to be world reserve .. particularly if stable coins get a direct reach to most ..

That means US can print to buy Bitcoin and further strengthen its clout ..
that's not a given considering those shitcoins don't have instant payments
 > Instant payments ?

I was referring to USDT or USDC .. what do you mean by instant payments ..

My point was if most people around the globe have option to buy stable coins directly ( instead of going through their bank ) , then demand for USD would sky rocket .. which means US can print more to keep the price stable .. and hence capitalise the print with #bitcoin ..
i mean usable for POS... you can't be waiting much longer than a visa/MC card payment or it's not gonna fly

can't do that with stables, only Lightning, and the only well developed ecosystem for this tech is bitcoin lightning

also, stablecoins are already at peak demand at this point... xapo bank supports USDC and USDT as well as onchain and lightning BTC, but you simply can't do POS with stables, just can't

the payment use case is important... only bitcoin has the tech that can take Visa/MC/etc out of the loop which makes it much more viable for physical retail/hospitality
also, as far as fiats go, simply not printing is the only way to make the prices stable

otherwise, they are guaranteed to grow at 2-8% per year, and it got much worse in the last 4
 I see .. I didn't know stables can't be used as cash .. actually, never tried ..

But that said , why do that at all ? When credit cards are working fine as is .. and people don't mind paying 2.5 % in fees ..why then rock the boat ?

When ever you need to settle the credit card , convert a bit of USDT in local currency and boom .. sure there is centralisation and what not ..but how many people really A F ?
inflation will make both consumers and vendors look for ways to shave their margins thinner

and yes, services like Xapo bank already do this via the credit card payment network

but with higher margins than LN can do, that's my point... when people are squeezed, they will eventually consider the saving to be worth the time to learn and deploy
the cards use case just is a problem

i live in madeira, and almost nobody except the big chains and centrally located shops has card terminals

they would sooner adopt LN if enough customers demanded it, because the cost of deployment of the setup is very low, they almost all have mobile phones that can already act as lightning payment terminals
