iPhone folks. Is an iPhone XR too old to play with these apps? My niece has one I can use. I know nothing about Apple and iOS so this will be my first experience ever. I just want to familiarize myself with these apps so that I can accurately help and support people that use them. nostr:nevent1qqs9e0c5hf7g6ue400y73grfg7gjx4tulsc0lkg7sz2s5ff2x8hmn0cpzdmhxw309akx7cmpd35x7um58g6rsd3eqgsr7acdvhf6we9fch94qwhpy0nza36e3tgrtkpku25ppuu80f69kfqrqsqqqqqp8zqu7j
Maybe a bit old. But should work fine though.
thanks. I'll feel dirty doing this, but it's for the good of Nostr, dammit 🤣🤣
We need you man! you are only using it to experience the other side and help people who have iOS.. which is a lot! maybe a necessary evil. 😆
This is what I will tell myself. Praise Johnny Ive.
I use most of the customers with my X, which is practically from the same year. The only difficulty I think is the battery, which is drained with a lot of violence.
It sounds like Apple is still supporting software updates for the XR, at least through next year. Give it a shot!
A good resource for this information is http://mactracker.ca which is an app that has a huge database of all Apple devices ever made, detailed specs, max official (and unofficial) upgrades, and max supported OS version. I realize your catch-22 of needing an Apple device to look up your first Apple device you don’t yet own. So, here are screenshots of the iPhone XR record. It supports the latest iOS, so it should be pretty capable of pretty much anything. https://i.nostr.build/8GMXB.jpg https://i.nostr.build/lLwQB.jpg https://i.nostr.build/WG0Me.jpg https://i.nostr.build/Q76n7.jpg https://i.nostr.build/6GqvR.jpg https://i.nostr.build/BRzde.jpg https://i.nostr.build/oMOPQ.jpg https://i.nostr.build/AaoGM.jpg https://i.nostr.build/nWVlg.jpg
Thank you. This is all helpful. Now that I'm an Apple expert, can you please let me know where I pickup my official badge?
Apple doesn’t make a badge. (Yet?) You gotta go to https://humane.com/aipin for that. But watch out, I hear they kinda suck.
Looks OK, I still use an even older iPhone 7 (2016) and that works just totally fine.
Going to go pick it up later
Apple supports stuff for years and years, so it’ll be more than fine for a first iPhone experience. Battery might be starting to go at that age but the experience will be the same as the newer phones
I use XR and it still works with all apps.
Cool.
Might be a bit slow, especially if it’s old and has a degraded battery (check in settings to see if it’s underclocked). It will be fine to use for help/support though. Just changed mine for a used 13 pro which was fairly cheap.
