Battery on my phone is basically dead, cannot hold a charge for half a day

Do I get a new phone or try to replace battery?
 these days? new phone
 Battery!
 Battery if phone is expensive.
 (unless something else is broken/defect)
Battery. Save money and stack sats.
Battery, if you can source a high quality replacement.
 Have you tried uninstalling amethyst?

Same I have to charge my phone twice a day 🥲
They do this on purpose I swear!
S21 FE 5g on Amazon for like $200.

Cheaper phone = more sats stacked
 New battery
What phone? If battery is semi easy to replace I'd go that route but a lot of phones make it very hard.
 Pixel 7, looks very hard
Might want to check the used market on the pixel 8. If you end up replacing battery but bust the screen in the process its going cost you the same as a used pixel 8. Also when you replace the battery of the 7 it will lose its seal and wont be water resistant anymore. These companies know what they are doing. I miss the days of easy access to battery and sd card support on these phones.
Not the cam, but its easy to replace.
Ugh, I hate that. You can get an external battery bank for a very reasonable price.
 Soldering is fun, breathe deep
 New phone!
Depends. If your phone is recent enough and still does what you need it to do relatively fast, replace the battery. If not new phone.
Get a new battery if its price won't be absurd comparing to a new phone.
It depends on the specific model you have, but generally speaking I'd say just get a new phone. A lot of phones sold in the past 5-10 years have gotten rid of the user-serviceable battery. It's technically possible to replace the battery in these contained devices, but it's not an easy task, and there's no guarantee some hardware integrity system isn't going brick the phone when you boot it up the first time. Buying a new or used replacement device is probably the better option.
be sure to wipe your device before taking to a service business to replace the battery
Some devices have a "valet" mode. You activate it before bringing it in for service and it protects your data from being accessed.
yes, new Androids have it. I don't trust it yet
Wiping your device is still the primary method of protecting your data recommended by manufacturers, but the valet mode, or "repair mode" is a good second option to consider. Here's a good explanation of how repair mode works on Android:

I replaced the battery on my pixel 4 about a year ago.

I mustn't have done it properly (maybe loose connection?) because it still has power issues (but they're less predictable now).

It's worth a shot IMO, batteries are pretty cheap compared to a replacement device.

I enjoy the Motorola Edge (2023) which can be found for about $400 or so. Good value for an entirely new device, better tech, and more official support. Though if you prefer custom roms I'm sure it's fairly easy to do, last I know Motorola devices were decently easy to install custom roms on.
depends, watch an ifixit vid and see if you think it's doable
 Definitely replace battery
It's cheap and makes your phone like new
Replace battery and get a new UTXO
