I really wish my #nostr client knew which posts I had seen already. It would allow me to search through only posts that I’ve seen to find things I liked, and also to refresh my main feed to only posts I have *not* seen. I spend quite a large amount of time now scrolling through just to get past stuff I’ve already looked at, and many times it will accidentally reset and launch me way up or even back to the top.
I think @gsovereignty created client with dissapearing notes you've seen?
I think it would be cool also to consolidate reposts. Like if it 6 people reposted something, just show all of their icons on one line versus seeing the same note 6 times with their repost header.
This and a form of spaces would be great.
Excluding reposts and reshares, this sounds like an interesting idea. But without marking each post as "seen," how would you differentiate between posts you scrolled past, but didn't actually "see," and ones you no longer wish to see? The only other way I can think of off the top of my head is an auto tag that happens when you actually tap on the post or view it for a certain amount of time, but it doesn't sound convenient to have to tap every post you don't want to see again so you will never see them again.
Could be just a client side “visible time,” and you just deal with the minor amount of false positives. But basically if you stopped and looked at it for like 3 seconds, it gets locally marked as “seen.”
btw. the reason I don't follow you. I wish I could hide "self reposts" at least. (I like your content but ...)
Marked read would be a great feature but how would this work. 🤔 nostr:note1zmmyej6c2srazzwnxfx23l8mg0c6kn2rypnj78y6wcy364p3h9lqzpykqq
That would be a great feature for sure!
"many times it will accidentally reset and launch me way up or even back to the top" I've tried more than a few alternative socials over the years and this one seems to be the toughest nut to crack. That and hiding reposts of stuff you already saw when it was initially posted. This one is tricky though because sometimes a repost actually serves as a helpful reminder. nostr:note1zmmyej6c2srazzwnxfx23l8mg0c6kn2rypnj78y6wcy364p3h9lqzpykqq
you can search at the top of the feed in damus which filters thru all past notes. Not quite what you’re saying, but its easy to not notice the search bar
Totally resonate. I think this should be worked on. I have the same issue
