a simple algorithm for the nostr feed id enjoy is random notes over the last N hours/days.
say the user selected "day", they would get a feed randomized from the last 24 hours. catching up sequentially gets tiresome beyond an hour or two. an analog is the "for you" twitter algorithim - randomized is naiive but still useful.
do any clients offer this? how do your favorite clients setup your feed?

I don’t think so. I usually check Primal’s trending in my network feed to catch up.
ya ive tried it too. it works, and its what i use now, but it leaves out so many and concentrates to the big accounts.
trending would be cool if you could mix it up. it doesnt turnover enough if you check it throughout the day.
Yeah I usually only check it once a day. Have you tried browsing your feed with Coracle? It mixes things up if you include replies which should be on my default. It mixes things up cause new replies to old notes brings the thread back into your feed. Damus has this too, but it’s a lot better in Coracle because you get to see some context because of the way Coracle displays threads.
havent checked out coracle but will now! cheers!
There's the people I follow and the people they repost. That's all I see.
Except occasionally when I'll search a hashtag just to see what's been posted with it recently.
Those are the two ways I find new people to follow. Either I see a bangin post of theirs that was reposted by my web of trust, or I see a bangin post when I search a hashtag.
respect for the effort and intention of this method 🫡
Feeds are ALWAYS realtime
you can ONLY suppress what u wanna see
1. By limiting urself limited relays
2.By limiting urself limited following aka contacts
3. Other custom filters on timeline u choose
4. Some Default filter of relay / client for spams
CUSTOM SEARCH is only way to see SELECTIVE older notes
TRENDING in any app just means SOMEONE else deciding SHOWING U some filtered results based on many params
