@867529b7 last week I hauled a couple of buckets of sludge from our composting toilet and added it to the compost bins in the garden. I give it another 6 months or so to break down further, adding kitchen waste, lawn clippings and weeds. I do this twice a year. The end result is rich black compost.

Here we use it for the landscape and not for the vegetable garden. It's a choice. But humanure can be composted just like any other animal manure.

1/3 browns
1/3 of fgreens
1/3 of manure plus compost

Better to do that in a tower made with wir to tarp it. Keep layering till you reach the top. Water deeply each layer as you add it.

Let it rise to a high temperature for 4 days. Then turn it every day for a month.
@867529b7 it's a bit different for me. The toilet already turns it to compost. I have 3 bins in the garden for compost, usual setup where I fill one, turn it into the 2nd, and turn 2nd into 3rd. When I get sludge from the toilet I just make a well in the 2nd bin and pour it in, then cover w grass, then tarp & leave it. It's mostly broken down & not smelly, but it seems prudent let it break down some more. It does get hot.

That is interesting thank you for sharing all of this. I know for a fact it can get very hot.
