ive been using it for 6 months, started over with a new keypair today and took me hours of fucking around with settings and relays on multiple clients just to be able to follow people so that i could populate my feed. and i don’t even know what i did to make it work or whether it just started working on its own
Which client did you start with?
damus and nostur. both doing the same thing, when i would go to follow someone the follow button was greyed out and unclickable, until it wasnt.

Will tag @Fabian to see if he knows what might have caused it to be greyed out. My guess is a relay issue 🤷♂️ Most of nostr issues are related to relays
ya that was what i was thinking too but i cloned my relays over from primal into nostur and damus which i was using just fine with my original keypair and it didn’t seem to make a difference. i mined a few vanity pub keys, i will try adding one of those keypairs as a second account right now and see if the same thing happens.

It has to do with preventing to lose your follows. If you created the new keypair somewhere else Nostur will try to fetch your follow list first before enabling the follow button. If there is no existing follow list or a problem with fetching it, it will stay disabled, follow lists are still tricky on nostr unfortunately.
dude, thanks so much for explaining. that makes sense cuz i also tried creating a keypair in the app instead of importing existing and it worked just fine any idea how/when the client decides to renable the follow button? im still confused why it started working, seemed like it started working when i tried coracle and was able to successfully follow someone on that client and then everything started working on all clients, but im not sure if that was just coincidence.
Really? Now I have 13 relays, what will happen if I added 100 relays?
