Giving people no advice is better than giving them bad advice. Telling noobs to run a lightning node is bad advice.
Don't be a noob. Learn.
Or just admit that LN is a failed experiment.
No, that is a stupid thing to say. Lightning works very well. There are tradeoffs to every decision about how you use it. Understand the tradeoffs and use it accordingly.
I agree. But most people won't or even if they want to, have no time for it. Running a full lightning node is an involved activity. Makes sense in some cases. For most people it doesn't.
Lightning nodes are for professionals.
How else would you learn if you don’t try? I’d say manage funds accordingly and understand risk, but go for it if that’s what you want.
One problem is that many say it's hard or doesn't work without even trying. But of course you need some experience on managing Linux servers and network skills, it's not simple and for everybody. But many can do it with the right time for learning.
umbrel, start9, raspiblitz, etc make it super easy
For sure. But still too much for someone who's non-technical or who doesn't need to do more than simply make and receive payments.
