Account already deleted? Damn. That's some incredible turnover rate for someone that's a creator and would do every well here on Nostr, IMO. nostr:nevent1qqs8749j0tgjhr9x8vm74uqfxe669tz2d4um65dpjam7tu5fn6vktcgpz9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejj7q3q0vhqdkqjs43r7wafccte0gydcnka32zsarxmr0ake99jw83cf3usxpqqqqqqztn9ws4
Wow - I followed this person right away. Guess they weren’t that fed up with FB.
It sounds like they didn't like Bitcoin 😂 Which is absolutely fine, but seems like missing the point of user choice and configurable feeds.
I’m often impressed when people find Nostr without first understanding Bitcoin. I’m not sure I would have grasped the key framework without having being predisposed. We have a high(er) barrier to entry - but as an alternative Nostr is lightyears ahead.
I started mining in mid 2013 without really any knowledge. Some cheapo ebay asics, bfgminer, Slush pool and an old pentium laptop. Difficulty spiked and we sold of the gear and sold out. I came to nostr last year, poring over the spec and starting work on my software. I still don't _really_ understand bitcoin the way I understand nostr, although I've been holding bitcoin for a while now. I only started running a real node very recently. I don't know that we do have a higher barrier to entry in nostr, definitly not for development. The only reason bitcoin might be "easier" is bit exchanges exist. I really want people to come here without any knowledge of bitcoin.
I agree - Nostr isn’t just for bitcoiners / nor should it be. As someone who barely interacts digitally - the barrier to entry I was referring to was regarding keys. Nostr (Damus) actually did a better job explaining pub/private keys than Bitcoin did for me. But im not sure I would have seeked Nostr out without first knowing what Bitcoin was. I guess this is a how to market Nostr/zaps without saying Bitcoin situation? https://image.nostr.build/8758cdacb763a1b55406acc66c8af8da0fbd00d2c0f7d360401eb8bea5cdb99b.jpg
Think some don't want bitcoinnshived in there faces. As much as nostr is awesome if you don't really care for bitcoin it's harder to find what your interested in without seeing a post about btc ever min.
If they want to stay poor, we should let them have fun.
It seemed he had no idea where he was here. Didn't know what a npub was, what sats are. Maybe even what BTC is. I guess he was really lost. Just at the wrong place.
Some of the very best creators are still on Facebook and Instagram. I suppose it feels more "legit" to have a large following on those two. Perhaps, still mainstream social media Most of my favorite dog influencers are on Facebook 🤔 #grownostr #plebchain nostr:nevent1qqszdjm44vtyw8ngzkryk8la3k52e25er8xspnmvtlw5xtzcr6vzhespz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhsygplwuxkt5a8vj5utj6s8tsj8e3wcavc45p4mqmw92qs7wrh5azmyspsgqqqqqqsvwpuln
we gotta help them see the light.
That's wild! What was the point?
😮 that was a fast turnover - they may not have been educated enough about what nostr is before signing up.
That's possible. It seems like they don't like Bitcoin and immediately decided that was too much for them. Nostr gives you the tools to see whatever you want to see if you put in the work to configure your feeds.
I also think it didn't help he got bombarded by a bot telling him (aside from the lightning wallet) to set up a NIP-05 address. If you never heard of a BIP (not into bitcoin) and someone says you need a NIP-05 address, while an nsec/npub is already a new concent, it's not surprising someone gives up. 🫤
Yes. I see that bot every day. It's very cringe.
The question is: what led to the account deletion? And how can we avoid this in the future?
