I’m often impressed when people find Nostr without first understanding Bitcoin. I’m not sure I would have grasped the key framework without having being predisposed.

We have a high(er) barrier to entry - but as an alternative Nostr is lightyears ahead.
I started mining in mid 2013 without really any knowledge. Some cheapo ebay asics, bfgminer, Slush pool and an old pentium laptop. Difficulty spiked and we sold of the gear and sold out. I came to nostr last year, poring over the spec and starting work on my software. I still don't _really_ understand bitcoin the way I understand nostr, although I've been holding bitcoin for a while now. I only started running a real node very recently.

I don't know that we do have a higher barrier to entry in nostr, definitly not for development. The only reason bitcoin might be "easier" is bit exchanges exist.

I really want people to come here without any knowledge of bitcoin.
I agree - Nostr isn’t just for bitcoiners / nor should it be.

As someone who barely interacts digitally - the barrier to entry I was referring to was regarding keys. Nostr (Damus) actually did a better job explaining pub/private keys than Bitcoin did for me. But im not sure I would have seeked Nostr out without first knowing what Bitcoin was. I guess this is a how to market Nostr/zaps without saying Bitcoin situation? https://image.nostr.build/8758cdacb763a1b55406acc66c8af8da0fbd00d2c0f7d360401eb8bea5cdb99b.jpg
Guys - what’s the answer here? Is changing the way we interact with new nostriches enough? What should the average user be doing to encourage new growth? I love Nostr.
