 yea asphalt sucks, but you're right, simplest thing to get fit and have fun is to run. Getting injured sucks tho, many ppl get overzealous at the start and overtrain. 
 If you make me choose between the two extremes I'm taking the overtrain crowd. 
 sprint training is the shit. Some injuries are permanent or reoccuring .. body is not that antifragile.
