Good morning, #nostriches! What kind of tea diffusers do you prefer? I finally got some loose leaf tea but don't have a good way to steep it. #gm #goodmorning #plebchain #grownostr #tea #teastr #asknostr
I prefer the wide mouth infusers that sit in your mug/pot. Nothing to open, easy to clean https://media.tenor.com/xV2orflQYp8AAAAC/tea-penguin.gif
True, though, my favorite mug doesn't let one of those kind sit evenly on the mug lip. I hadn't thought of that until now. This is helpful. 😁
my favorite https://m.primal.net/Kqqp.jpg
I just saw a great way to steep. you take two of the same cups, that nest perfect, poke, melt, or otherwise cut small holes in one of the cups, this will act as a strainer/colander. of course, the holes need to be slightly smaller than the cut of tea leaves. nest the two cups withe the strainer on side the cup without holes, put in as much tea as you would for the size of the cups. (any size you want as long as they nest nicely) pour the hot water and let steep until your desired results are met. if I didn't explain this well, there clips all over the interwebs. carry on #tea drinkers!
The kind that makes it coffee 😂🫂😉
*sighs* Gross. 🤮
Have had nice teas and enjoyed them. I think I'd like them more now that we've cut out sugar, we have the strainer thing that goes across the cup that someone else offered up. I figured I'd harass you a bit to show I care.
Of course I would expect no less. Than you. Love you, too. 😬
Glad I can bring some joy to your life 🫂🫂
You did. You do. Thank you.
As do you 😊.
I bought this one a while back. Tea Infuser Basket Stainless Steel Tea Strainer Tea Filter With Small Strainer And Lid Tea Diffuser For Loose Tea Superior Brewing Experience (One pack silver) https://a.co/d/4qTRivB
Oh. That might actually work since it's not a big circle. Hmmm...
I bought a similar one, I swear I had issues with it, like it drained too slow and took up to much space..something annoyed me about it. Or you could only pour so much water at a time.
Do... You have it? If so... Could I try it?
If I can find it, I'll give it to you
We just did a massive family trash day and I condensed a lot, might have tossed it or might have put it in the garage sale pile
What kind did you get? Welcome to #teachain 🫖 Being a tea nerd, I have different choices for different situations. Here are a couple favorite choices. Not pictured: 1. A stainless steel bombilla like is used for maté when you just wanna throw leaves in your cup. 2. A stainless tea ball with a spring closure and a weighty charm on the end of the chain. By spring closure I mean there is a little spring that slides onto the “beaks” of each clamshell half, holding them together. It took getting used to but now I like this more than the normal way these are closed, with a little arc of metal binding a section of the two sides together. The charm keeps the thing from flipping around when you add water. https://image.nostr.build/365f07e8535d6a59910745ba859b35ea96cb9cd6755c6f6807b97c9a7859e368.jpg https://image.nostr.build/d48d0ac1e9ee9c105f625426eff72dd9ec8f05527d17de3fa00952168cd93567.jpg
I say not pictured because I couldn’t find a suitable picture. They are also favored choices I use frequently.
Those matching tea sets are lovely, but... They are always too small. My mugs hold over 750ml of water. I hate small cups. 😅 I've seen the ball type before. I've not seen any that were made well enough to last, IMO. Just some random black tea from an Asian market. Not like I know any better, but it will likely be better than much if the stuff that I drink.
I can talk tea if you want. If you want to send a pic of the box, I’m curious. Go back to the Asian market and see if they sell stuff that is like a tea ball but a little larger. Meant to hold soup ingredients. May be sturdier and or better suited to a large mug. I also use them to infuse mulled cider/wine with spices. This spring style ball I’m talking about seems sturdier which is why I now prefer it to the normal tea ball with the latch. I’ll try to remember to snap a pic when I am home.
I literally don't understand. What's diffuser? What it has to do with tea? #lostintranslation
It's a thing with small holes in it to let hot water through to steep (brew) tea and then can easily pull the leaves out of the cup so you can drink the tea without getting the leaves stuck in your teeth.
Don't use the balls. They are a pain and easy to over stuff where they don't steep well.
Ah. That dang thing I have been looking for at least a week at home! We had several of them and I can't find any! So I use the kettle for French press coffee from Ikea for tea. It works pretty well. https://www.ikea.com/cz/cs/p/upphetta-konvice-na-caj-kavu-sklo-nerezavejici-ocel-kremova-80583739/
That's an interesting option. The only issue I have with that is yes another thing to wash up.
True. But it is surprisingly easy. Just pour a water from tap and it's clear. No issue there. At least not for the tea I'm currently drinking.
This is the one I use. It is fantastic. I have 6 of them. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CFQW79K8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
