Like don't get me wrong, the Anker one looks dope, but the proper iOS integration with actual MagSafe ones so it could be smarter about when to send charge to the device and you can see the battery percentage in Control Center and when you attach it to the device, etc. It just elevated the whole experience
I guess that also begs the question, I assume the Anker ones will need to be updated to Qi2 to be compatible with 15W on the new iPhones? It won't just work out of the gate, right?
@096d2c53 Anker announced new Qi2 products at IFA last week. They should be out in October.
@096d2c53 I am hoping a USB-C Magsafe battery pack appears. I’m ready to pay the premium for a good one with Magsafe-speed charging.
@8b6b1b08 @096d2c53 didn’t someone uncover a serial number for an unreleased version of the battery during WWDC?
@8379395e @096d2c53 👀 I was too busy eating sushi with you to notice

(Sorry for missing you Christian…)
@096d2c53 Elevated by 1cm/0.43 inches even! Joke aside, Control Center integration might be unnecessary but still nice. Just feels sleek and well integrated.
@096d2c53 It’s almost like maybe it’s a good idea for Apple to make those APIs public?

The companies that don’t care and want to sell cheap shit won’t bother, so apple wouldn’t have many competitors using the open-but-proprietary API anyway.
@308c540a Anker already makes MagSafe compatible accessories like their charging cube, I'd be more than willing to pay a bit extra for an actual MagSafe version of this Anker one
@096d2c53 might be best just to hold off for a bit if you want the Apple experience. Seems they always launch battery packs a few months after the phones. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a new battery pack before the end of the year.
