I wonder with the MagSafe battery pack being discontinued if that's a temporary thing since the new iPhones support Qi2? Maybe Apple waits a bit and releases a new USB-C plus Qi2 battery pack? Otherwise I guess the existing Anker one is the play
@096d2c53 I used my Anker one at WWDC22 and it’s still going strong.
@096d2c53 I just wanted a stand alone USB C AirPod Pro case 😭
Like don't get me wrong, the Anker one looks dope, but the proper iOS integration with actual MagSafe ones so it could be smarter about when to send charge to the device and you can see the battery percentage in Control Center and when you attach it to the device, etc. It just elevated the whole experience
@096d2c53 the 15 and 15 Pro spec pages do only mention Qi and MagSafe not Qi2 🤔
@096d2c53 Does Qi2 support reverse charging, so that the iPhone could charge the battery pack?
@096d2c53 I'm hoping for this outcome as well. They might also be waiting until the iPhones (and a hypothetical new battery pack) to receive “official" Qi2 certification. Apparently, that hasn't happened yet, but it could be coming in the next month or two. https://www.theverge.com/2023/9/12/23870494/qi2-certification-iphone-15-magnetic-charging
@096d2c53 I bet it’s coming early next year when most other Qi2 devices are going to launch. Or at their spring event?
@096d2c53 the old one was very nice but low capacity, as third parties showed. Part of that was it was sized to fit the mini.

With the mini dead, I wonder if they’re making a new one without that constraint is also a factor.
@096d2c53 is it confirmed that the new phones support Qi2? Someone mentioned yesterday that Qi charging is still limited to 7W.
@096d2c53 Seeing the writing on the wall, I recently bought this little USB-C charger and I think it's a good competitor to MagSafe/Qi2 battery packs, plus can charge devices without wireless charging.
@096d2c53 Weren’t the old battery cases historically delayed from the phones before they went MagSafe? I feel like I always remember them coming out early the next year form the phones they were for but I could be wrong
@096d2c53 I was reading that the new iPhone hasn't actually passed Qi2 certification yet so there's a change they're holding off releasing any accessories until they can actually say they support Qi2. Kind of weird timing though.
@096d2c53 I hope they’ll release an updated battery pack and MagSafe Duo in the new FineWoven material instead of the silicone.
