I think the inability to shadow ban, censor or de-platform has a big role to play, in people's willingness to speak their minds here.

This also impacts the culture within the community. It creates a culture of resilience amongst the Nostriches, that isn't present on other platforms.

Having no algorithms is also a huge plus. Nothing is fed down our throats, or artificially promoted. If something is popular, it is because it is truly viral.
