I’m oddly obsessed with researching and using good skincare ingredients. Any of you crusty dusties need some help or advice with your skin? I’m your girl 🥰 https://i.nostr.build/kIiZQMOY6m227sCQ.gif
Face for radio reporting in. Been wanting to try a tallow based Moisturizer.
Yesss. It is a very nice moisturizing ingredient. If you are still dry, add a hydrator beforehand 🫂
I genuinely wouldn't really know where to start. I've kind of been acne prone and have dry skin on my face a lot. As long as I don't eat too much junk food, the acne seems to stay down. And stress also seems to affect the breakouts as well.

I have a very simple and straight forward skincare routine. I wash my face with warm water before bed. Two estheticians I’ve met (one I dated) couldn’t believe how nice my skin was 😏
Genetics are a huge part of good skin lol. I have poor skin genetics so I have to put in more effort 😂 you’re lucky
I think my genetics are pretty average. When my hair is long, my face breaks out more because my hair sits on my forehead. The oils from your hair can cause you to break out. I also break out when I spend time with a girl who wears makeup. Those chemicals aren’t supposed to be absorbed by your skin. A few years ago I would constantly touch my arms, trying to feel the muscles on my shoulders and then it would break out. My guess is that the oils from my fingers triggered that. If I touch my face a lot, I’ll break out too. I also breakout in some other parts of my body which I think might be caused by sweat. But my face is the cleanest because I wash it regularly and remove that oily layer with warm water. I’m starting to think that we breakout because our skin is trying to remove some shit that it absorbed which it wasn’t supposed to absorb 😂
Good skincare involves hair care too. A lot of hair ingredients (especially in conditioners) are comedogenic (will break you out) and they kind of drip all over your face in the shower and what not. You’re right about removing oils. It’s called transepidermal water loss and if you just wash your face without replacing nutrients (a good moisturizer), it strips the skin barrier and causes inflammation/excess oil
It’s pretty complicated because we are exposed to toxins and air pollutants that our ancestors never had. So removing more than usual might not be that bad. I’ve gone maybe two days without washing my face and my skin was still fine though. A good diet helps a lot. I drink bone broth and eat meat organs full of good vitamins. My hair is a mystery though. It looks great if I don’t wash it for a while but i have some dry skin flakes that fall out. It’s not dandruff though.
Have you seen this documentary? Pretty Toxic 👇 https://youtu.be/9UNhM5klNa0 It really makes you think about all the products we have used for decades and why simple & natural is so important
Yes I have and I have a kind of in the middle stance. Studying cosmetic chemistry and the building blocks of skincells really helped me. If you can read an inky list and know what the ingredients are/where they come from/what they do, then you start to see that there are unnecessary/irritating ingredients in both standard and natural brands. Where I agree with you the most, is the simplicity of the ingredient list. A product with 50+ingredients is always a red flag.
My routine: Mourning: Wash - cerave sa cleanser Moisture - cerave day cream spf 30 Night: Wash - cerave sa cleanser Moisture - neutrogena retinol Anything I'm missing?
wtf why is this the best routine I’ve ever heard of from a man? A girl…taught you
Nope
Damn. Kudos. I am truly flabbergasted

U staying moisturized and in your lane?
I feel like living in high humidity has helped me a ton, when I start getting itchy and dry in winter, I use my beeswax lotion bar the cheese got me ages ago. I think I generally have great skin unless I'm having an I ate shit food or my hormones be cray cray day. But I rarely wear makeup and generally eat not shit food. What do you recommend for a good moisturizer skincare queen?
So it totally depends on skin type and like you mentioned, environment can alter skin type. I am very dry and sensitive, but I live in a super dry environment. I’m also eczema prone so I have to be extra cautious. Moisturizer picks for me are really thick and creamy and will have hydrators (glycerin/hyaluronic acid/panthenol) and also emollients like sqaulane or jojoba oil and shea butter. This is my favorite no bullshit moisturizer, but I’m so dry, I slather shea butter or jojoba on top: https://i.nostr.build/SPrxMjvu9cJkjwQK.jpg
Yeah, that sounds like a winter only thing for me 😂. I feel like I turn into a dried up husk under about 75% humidity, so this might be a good tool to combat that, but I'd be a greasy teenager-y mess most of the time, lol. But I'm also going for that leathery out in the sun all the time old lady look in my near future 👀👵...
