@678e31cf We got a gas stove eventually, when I was at Primary school. My memory of that isn't pleasant because I came home from school and there was the lovely new stove and in praise I said "Oh thank you!". And my mother said grumpily, "I didn't buy it for you." 

 @bade302b Well that was a bit mean.

My Mum hated me because I was a ‘fire bobbie’ as a child & loved lighting mini fires on her new stove made out of spent matches 🤦‍♂️ 

That maybe why I use a mini blow torch to grill cheese these days 😂

 @bade302b My Dad drew the line when I tried to smoke out a wasps nest in the top of the old outhouse roof - & set fire to said roof ! 

I managed to put it out, but he was less than pleased to say the least, i think words like borstal were mentioned ! 🙄🤦‍♂️
