I think the key is the difference between "spending time on it" and "using it." In other words, getting rid of my Twitter would be dumb, on net. It's a huge network, it reaches tons of people who aren't already Bitcoiners, It's a great way to contact or reach almost anybody, especially for shows and project related discussions. But spending time on Twitter engaging with comments, chasing the next thing in my feed to "see the news," and getting wrapped up in whatever dumb fucking drama is happening this week is a monumental waste of time. Engaging on #Nostr is far more productive, content & conversations aren't lost after barely a few days, it's actually enjoyable, and most of the culture is still aligned with the mission of #Bitcoin, privacy, and ending censorship. I need to do a better job of treating Twitter as a place to connect directly with people and dumping video/show content for them to squeal at each other about, and just keep my distance from it. It's like going to a farm to see a bunch of pigs, it's useful to toss some food in there and let them do their thing, but it's a really bad idea to get into the mud and shit and roll around with them.
It's like using one of those grandfather's computers, barely able to run due to all the bloatware, viruses and never updated. Every two seconds you get a new pop-up to a new porn site. Now you can choose to use this computer as a tool for what it's meant to do by replacing the OS, or you can leave it as-is and ignore the distractions and say it's OK for what you want from it. I can understand your point of frustration: there is a huge issue of having a grand following on a platform that no longer cares about you. Trusting that people will find you again on a different platform is probably putting too much trust in people.... All the best. Love the show!
