In the spirit of understanding i am going to start asking yall for your truth and definitions
So in your own words.

What is altruïsm?
#asknostr
Being helpful without expecting anything in return
I wonder if it exists 🤔
I guess: “Being helpful without expecting anything in return from the recipient” would be more accurate. Some get off on helping others (dopamine…)
Thats fair mind racing but nothing i can put into words lol
I agree. The first one sounds better even though it’s missing something
 wrecked by the effective altruists
nuclear test site
fenced off for hundreds of years
 Fair 😂
When you've helped someone that you don't know and they don't know that it was you that have helped them.
I touched on this with node but if you do good to feel good is it altruism ?
I used to think the answer to that question was "yes". But, I no longer do. I now feel that it needs to hurt you, slow you down or set you back just a bit.
very gently, if it is costless, it is doubtful it helped
 💯
... and you don't even know you helped. (I'll add)

💪👍 very good
I’d say doing something because you believe in the good of it, and not because you think it will be materially beneficial - being selfless. Ego aside and the betterment of humanity on the forefront - like Satoshi with Bitcoin
 Was satoshi altruistic?
Thats a intresting thought experiment
I think so 🫂 does he touch his bitcoin? I heard he doesn’t, but I could be wrong. Also, starting something and then leaving it to the people to continue, without claiming that you started it. That’s rather beautiful.
The thing he created can and is used for good.
But no one knows his true motivation except him. I tend to believe his motivation was good but who really knows
non interference. leave people be. take care of yourself and the rest takes care of itself. people ask for help if they need it, either in words or more subtly.

as soon as there's a touch of good (or doing good), there's an idea and a stench (and yet another self, many to most SJWs are an example of this). good and bad are relative. do-gooders cause more harm than they do good. who is helped by the pithy slogan on a sign in a front yard? what is good for one is bad for another, who decides? a snake eating a frog, where it's the good or bad? no good no bad, it's the great matter of life and death.

now I have said too much, delete my words.

🙏

No need to delete words i see your point
Live and let live
but you missed the point of the deletion of the words. why did I say that? hmmmm 🤔
No clue you could have million reasons im just gonna let it be
good starting point. let it be a question.

PS I like these questions but I'd rather do it in person. I'm sure some think I'm being a dick 😂 and that goes away when it's a one on one IRL conversation. I'm showing the wall, but the wall isn't mine... whose walls are they to break?
That makes sense i think there is no argueing someone else their definition just nore understanding or discussion
there is only one mind we can change. and...
Immoral; death of yourself for the sake of everyone else.
 an unconditional action.

someone, in an instant of awareness and connection with everything, opens space for an action to emerge that benefits everyone and everything.
 Actual altruism:
Understanding another person's feelings and needs and selflessly helping them.

How many act when they believe the are being altruistic:
- Giving to someone what the giver believes is good for the receiver without bothering to learn about the receiver to see if this is actually what they want or need. It is done so the giver feels good about themselves. Frequently what is given is given by force of government and doesn't actually cost the "giver" anything.
I think that is a very good point we tend to give what is easy to give its so much harder learning what to give
