Bilateral brain stimulation can be used to decrease anxiety and improve emotional processing and regulation. Bilateral stimuli can be visual, auditory, or tactile and occur in a rhythmic right-left pattern. I have a couple favorite tactile methods. The Butterfly Hug 1. Cross arms over chest and grasp upper arms with opposing hands. 2. Begin tightening one hand then the other in a slow rhythmic left-right pattern. 3. Draw your awareness to your breath. Start taking slower, deeper breaths into your belly. 4. Continue for as long as you would like. 5. Can also be used while discussing difficult topics with a trusted party. Might help you process things more easily. Clasped hands 1. Interlace all fingers and clasp your hands so that your thumbs are touching the opposing hands. 2. Push down one thumb then the other in a slow, rhythmic pattern. 3. This one can be done in your lap so can be used more publically if needed. #healthstr #healstr #anxiety #chillstr https://i.nostr.build/gZKE3.jpg
The brain and body are so complex I forget to appreciate it. Reminds me of how if you have an injured arm or leg if you contribute strength training the healthy opposing limb the injured has a reduced rate of muscle loss and sometimes can nearly prevent it from happening.
The body's intelligence is fascinating and so cool
I wonder if there will be increased interest in self guided education about tapping in and learning about one’s body as schooling in general is being analyzed by bitcoiners and others.
I hope so. Mastery of one's body, starting at one's breath and stemming out into eating or sleeping patterns, is the foundation of a good life imo. I love breathwork and have explored hyper and hypooxygenation like simlating training at altitude. Also have done different diets -- keto being a big one. Experimented w mouth taping at night to raise HRV. I have tracked sleep and activity stats for over 2.5 years w an oura ring. Also used a continuous glucose monitor for a total of prob 9 mths of the past 4 years. Mastery of body is def a fave topic! Big nerd lol
