Hardcoded? Who picks the list of npubs? My fear is that primal is going to turn into just another Twitter, where the platform decides what to show us.
At brainstorm.ninja you can see which wiki topics are trending, which are popular, which are controversial. Who decides? YOUR GRAPEVINE DECIDES.
Yes yes. I actually think we’re ALL on the same page. The more I listen. Problem is alignment of effort, not as much of ideals and intention.
Primal is not my chosen client. Yea they hardcode that trending list FOR NOW, but hearing @miljan and @QW actually discussing the hard parts out loud made me less concerned.
We’re all driving the same direction. How to steer together? That is the challenge.
So what do they say are the hard parts that are preventing them from a customized trending list? There’s a part of me that says a hard coded trending list is worse than none at all.
I’m not entirely clear why primal hasn’t pushed harder on this from DAY ONE… but I suspect it has to do with shifting paradigms.
WoT filtering (done right) requires some infrastructure (as we’ve discussed) and some additional work by the end user (configuring filters) in order to provide satisfactory results. In turn, this requires investors and developers to think differently about what is “important content” for each user … paradigm shifting takes time. That’s my take.
if that happens and people like it, Primal will continue to succeed. if that happens and people don't like it, they'll probably make a change. if people really hate it, they'll easily pop over to a different client
