Running a relay is one thing. but you need to broadcast your relay to other relays otherwise running your own relay is kinda gay

Depends...... say you write everything to only your relay, you can add other relays to your nostr client and click Broadcast to send posts out. I run the strfry software and I have strfry also act as a router to sync my relay with the major relays. This way, I only need to connect to my relay which is spam free and notes will sync to other relays. It acts like a super relay basically.
Interesting, I found that different clients interact with my relays in different ways. Also, my own relay nortis.nostr1.com doesn't receive all my notes despite it being listed in every client. I spent some time configuring Amethyst with the full relay config, but not sure that translates much to other clients. I'm still not deep enough into relays π±

Relay run in your phone. The Orbit (tor) part is fantastic but added quite a bit of lag to the process. https://github.com/greenart7c3/Citrine
Orbot is an Android app (and thus also Chromebook) that makes a Tor connection into a VPN for your Android device Basically you can take any app and route it through Tor by using Orbot
This is my hope for nostr and I'm still loud about how relays, being such a simple and a dumb thing but they are incredible difficult to set up and running properly for the majority of plebs around here. Relays should be easy for normies. Plug/Install and relay style.

Is the idea that all nostrers would simply have their own relay. As an avg Joe blo bitcoiner (I know that's an oxy moron) who does blue collar work, I don't really have time to think about running a relay. Unless I guess it's as easy as getting started on here with Primal

If you have an @umbrel node just install the #nostr relay addon. Not much of an effort and a backup of all your own notes. Itβs a good start.
