I flip flop on how intelligent governments really are. Sometimes they seem so coordinated and powerful, other times they do the absolute dumbest shit ever (like this). 

 It's always about the interests of the state vs interests of ordinary citizens 

 I guess. Just dont understand why they'd ever dump a hard asset for money they can print out of thin air. Surely they'd want a little bit of insurance at least.
