Flight attendant: so what do you do? Me: bitcoin stuff mostly Flight attendant: omg I had a bitcoin, but I sold it at 68k to get rid of some debt. Do you think that was a good idea? Me: uhmm I mean if it makes you happy I guess Flight attendant: no seriously, like what do you think it’s going to do next? It can’t go up much more right?? Me: I think it’s going to a million in less than 4 years. Flight attendant: 😳
Dave Ramsey wrecked a lot of people with his debt free propoganda.
How so? Just curious. Seeing more criticism of him lately. I've known people who have done his thing and been happy with it. And the people I know who do criticize him haven't tried it. What is the basis for criticizing his program?
The denominator is going to zero.
His advice works well in an era of high interest rates and low money printing. 30 years ago, Ramsey had good advice. If you spent 7 years paying off your debt before buying a house when interest rates were less than 3%, and then the interest more than doubles, you would have been better off buying the house before paying off the debt. Ask me how I know.
Basically don't sell, everyone trying to make you sell in 100 ways.
Spend, then replace.
Yes!!
She knows, she made a mistake, she was only looking for confirmation and you gave it too her
Luckly he/she met you now at $67k.. it's all up to him/her now 🤙🏼
Bearish, but so there isn’t too much normie 🤯, logical.
It’s amazing how many world class traders I know that timed the exact tops and bottoms of cycles! “I bought at 3k = I bought at 20k” “I sold at 68k = I sold at 50k”
based
The peace of mind that comes with being debt free is priceless. Life isn't only about number go up.
flight attendant with 1 bitcoin, that gives me hope even if she sold it.
And then you banged or ?
At least she was a whole coiner once upon a time, I guess stacking debt free feels better for some people
In any asset (including stocks, real estate, bonds, etc) winners tend to keep winning and losers tend to keep losing. This is largely why index funds statistically work so well versus just picking stocks, they force smaller allocations to losing stocks and increase allocations to winners, e.g. water your flowers and pull your weeds. This is like selling real estate in Manhattan to buy in Detroit. Yeah Manhattan is expensive and Detroit is cheap, but that doesn’t in any way mean Detroit will outperform or turnaround its problems.
I have to keep the million to myself, my wife even thinks I’m crazy
You’re not alone! Mine keeps reminding me to diversify, and I’m like “into what?!”
it’s going to a million
bearish.
Getting rid of the debt makes sense though. But they should have kept stacking. Hope they’re inspired to start now after your convo 🤞
