Great for you, but not a replacement for jogging / running whatsoever. Not even close.
Idk, in my experience running endurance doesn't transfer to swimming or surfing very well, but swimming endurance does to some degree transfer to running. Idk if it's quite the same with surfing, but expending energy with your whole body for extended periods of time while your breathing is greatly limited is truly one of the most intense forms of exercise.
The mechanics of your legs are being used surfing, but the natural motion of moving on the earth has a physiological benefit to human beings that can not be reproduced. That's why longevity & quality of life are both excellent in people who keep their mechanics strong in the fulcrums of their bodies: Ankles, knees, hips, shoulders, neck. Running, Crawling, Swimming, Walking. The natural human motions, but which are more important to a land mammal?
