In my opinion a lower figure makes no sense at all to open a channel. Using it just for Nostr seems wasted to me, at that point just a custodial wallet and move sats every so often. 

 having a lot of small channels complicates and slows down routing for large "hub" nodes, so they prefer fewer big ones
