Oddbean new post about login | logout I'm glad that the Trump organization is being held to account for their years of lies but does anyone really think they would have ever got such proper scrutiny if not for Trump breaking the entire country? We should hold all wealthy and unscrupulous organizations to account all of the time. Not doing so instructs them towards further willful ignorance of the law and given the means they wield at last puts us all in danger.
I recently heard Pen and Teller basically apologize for appearing on "The Apprentice." That was refreshing. Their act has often been about unmasking humbugs, charlatans. "The Apprentice" was also a kind of humbug as much as any seller of snake oil. But it was just a show, right, who cares if we pretend this guy is successful and wealthy because he's "good at making deals" No one really believes-- And Yet.
