There is a reason for it. Cast iron takes longer to heat, and holds heat longer, is more evenly distributed, etc.
You can get a thick stainless steel pan which holds the heat just as long as cast iron, not those thin sheets of paper. Every type of pan has it's own purpose.
Agreed. But… I acknowledge that Teflon is a shitcoin, but damn, they work so well.
