I onboarded my dad using Primal without knowing it did this, and I think he fell into this situation of being overwhelmed by stuff from people he didn’t actually choose. I think it may be one of the reasons I don’t see him posting anymore.
Following topics until you discover accounts you actually like is a far better way.
Following as many people as possible or whatever’s trending only works if you’re similar to the average of all Nostr users. It’s especially bad with primal cause they default new accounts to follow over a 100 people

Agreed, we need much better discovery tools to find good accounts to follow.
