Zaps are the way to go... I'll typically zap with reckless abandon as a way to say "I enjoyed that post"... AND (funny thing is) I never seem to run out of sats... 😃
My preference would be that zaps didn’t look like reactions/likes in the client UI. Zaps are an incredible new way of engaging with people and content online. I see their purpose and effect as different from likes, and so I think it’s a mistake to treat them similarly to likes in the UX. Just my take on it though when it comes to zaps.
How do you see them differing? I think a zap can be universal--used for all kinds of things (including indicating approval). Likes are essentially superfluous...
Zaps are money. Inserting the exchange of monetary value into social interactions online where they didn’t exist before, the way zaps are doing, is an interesting and exciting thing to witness and be part of. I think it opens a lot of possibilities but I also think it introduces some issues and dynamics we didn’t have to think about before. Money just changes people. How zaps are implemented is an important thing to consider and study and adapt with as time goes on.
I've felt this way for a while too. -Particularly because likes still exist in most clients. If we remove likes from nostr & basically force people to zap then it'll scare the noobs and sat-pinchers away though, so I'd say let's keep likes where they are and move zaps away from the reaction bar completely... Maybe to a drop-down menu or when clicking on the post...
