How do you guys feel about the death of censorship on X, and the migration of dissatisfied users to Threads and Bluesky instead of nostr?
The death of censorship? What does that mean?

There is an insane amount of censorship on X.
Yea but it’s probably like 1% of what it used to be. You can’t do death threats like you could in 2012, but it’s pretty much a free-for-all again …
I quit in January, so things may be different now
The censorship is probably just less obvious, you may not get banned for tweeting something "controversial", the algorithms will just shadowban it and nobody sees the tweet.
 an adorable take!
Still bullish on nostr, dont really care about what's going on with the centralized platforms.
Nostr is too hard for users. Same for Bitcoin onchain

People don't know what 'Key Management' is
 Fine.

Being a place to run from twitter wasn’t a great narrative, not really the sell for me.
Going to repeat my hot take :-)

Nice. I didn’t realize Matt was surveying my treasonous posts on state media 😅
 We're watching!!

Anyway, it seems unlikely to me that Musk is going to play here once Trump, in his capacity as POTUS, tells him to delete various opponents from the platform. But we'll have to wait and see.
 Yeah death of censorship!

Never heard of the others.
the "death of censorship" is a bit much, the platform can and does control the reach of posts. Gaza stuff getting throttled hard for example. The platform remains at the mercy of a central authority.
Nostr removes the mechanism of censorship by a central authority, so its a good platform to build on.

Moving to Threads/Bluesky is trading one master for another. Normies want that and we dont.

assuming your framing is not retarded, which is a stretch, very few people care. midwits gonna midwit. and often in a self congratulatory circle.
i was waiting for something to load on my computer, and thought about your question again.
i suddenly dawned on me that you engage the world from the mindset of a suburban highschool girl.
what you should consider doing, is looking into a mirror, and punching yourself in the face until you see the stupid leave. Then take some time to really ponder the kinds of questions you want to ask to gain wisdom in the world. Do you want to stay at the depth of a Walmart kiddie pool, or would you rather exit cliche altogether, and start asking things like, “what matters in life,” “what creates lasting relationships”, and “what historical choices have led to wide spread freedom, and are there recurring patterns there that can be gleaned and employed”.
Or stay where you are and blow away like a dandelion gone to seed in fall.
 Day-uhm.

The next time I need to strip paint, I'll save myself the trip to the hardware store and just read this post of yours aloud.
 😂
 hope we dont meet. 🙂
How do you know what does or doesn’t get censored on X? If it gets censored, you don’t see it.
I just left Twitter for nostr

Death of censorship on X? In the US, possibly (not really sure). Look at what has been happening in Turkey or India just to give a couple of examples.
Good point. I was only thinking about USA when I wrote that. I’ve heard X does really fight against governments elsewhere.
Why are they moving to Bluesky, I thought it was a censorship-free platform too?
 No idea
For my 5c - What X does is they abide by what's legal speech in each jurisdiction. They don't really have a choice if they want to operate in a country. In the US, that means you're more or less unrestricted due to the 1a. A lot of places around LATAM/EMEA/Asia are not so fortunate with their laws though and there nostr is still important.
 That’s a great point
We need bridges built to X, Threads and Bluesky so that all posts feed to Nostr and all roads lead to Nostr.
That would make me use nostr more for sure
Imagine a bridge from Nostr TO the other services. You would almost never have to log into those other services again.
 I dig it
Not so sure about this. The incentives here seem to generate less content that makes you depressed.
Right, which is why I would want to post here and have it feed to the other networks. Why log into anything else when the bridges do all the work?
I read your comment as “all posts feed to Nostr” maybe I misunderstood
the whole objective of Nostr is to be the base level protocol under multiple apps, right? so build the bridges so that any post, from anywhere goes everywhere. thanks to: Nostr. people will know how and why that works, and thus my phrase, all roads lead to Nostr. people will eventually stop thinking about the apps, except for how they connect to Nostr.
