GM. It is remarkably important to be friends and acquaintances with people who think very differently than you.
GM. Gotta keep all the biases in check and also maintain a diverse set of skills and perspectives useful in an apocalyptic world.

GOOD MORNING Blessing friend my friend & pura vida. Long live bitcoin. Long live nostr Vote orange & Purple.
Def agree with this! Life has to be balanced in all aspects plus friendly arguments help to exercise the mind and help come up with points as to why one might believe in a certain thing.
As long as they don't condone violence against me or my family
Harder when it’s differences in how they raise their children.
right, but feels unrealistic
I don’t think so. In my experience the key is to have one big thing in common, which sets a foundation where other stuff can be different.
I have friends who before the war (russia-ukraine) had a positive attitude towards russia. they believed that russia would never start a war. and that we were brothers and thats all. i disagreed with this but was ready to talk about it, but it almost never happened because emotions boiled over. now that they themselves have been under the bombing and understood everything about russia, they also don't want to talk about it anymore because they have to admit that they were wrong. it's unpleasant. this is how it turns out that the topics in which we disagree are simply not touched.
GM! Agreed
Talk outside the bubble is the new think outside the box!
Talk outside the bubble is the new think outside the box!
Important but incredibly rare these days.
Remarkably, I'm surrounded by people who think differently than I do. It's incredibly frustrating because in order to have a rational and meaningful conversation about anything, I first have to educate them and bring them up to speed. I stopped attempting to do that over 10 years ago when I realized that they were very resistant to it and it was like drawing blood from a stone. I also realized that even if they cared to have an informed and intelligent conversation, they weren't actually capable of synthesizing anything I had to say, and rejected it all without rationale, just because it didn't the popular narrative that validated their social, political, or economic world view. I would love to have just one close friend who thought like me.
No way I’m hanging with shitcoiners Lyn 😂
